Wednesday Hodgepodge - Stormy Thoughts

A hodgepodge is a jumble or assortment of things that might not appear to belong together. Joyce at From This Side of the Pond hosts a weekly link-up called Wednesday Hodgepodge that is a little collection of questions for bloggers to answer just for fun and to get to know each other. I always look forward to chatting with friends over coffee, so pour a cup of your favorite and let's visit for a few minutes!

Here are this week's questions - and my answers - for this week's Wednesday Hodgepodge.

1.  What's a talent you wish you had?

I wish I could play guitar. I mean, I did learn when I was a teen, so I kind of have the idea, but I have short stubby fingers and haven't really tried playing in years. I wish I had the talent to pick it up easily and quickly.

2. In one word, what's your state of mind right now?

Overwhelmed. There's stuff I need to do and I haven't done it and I don't feel like I have time.

3. What's the next major purchase you need to make? Will it happen this month? This year?

Plane tickets, maybe? We're considering a trip west to meet up with friends in May or June. I guess we need to settle on a date so we can plan. We don't have any plans to buy appliances or vehicles or anything like that in the near future.

4. Tuesday (April 2nd) was National PB and J Day . . . did you celebrate? Is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich something you eat weekly or more? What's your favorite kind of jelly?

I did not, but I wish I had! I love PB&J, and I would eat it at least once a week if it wasn't for all the carbs and calories. It's a comfort food treat for me. I like concord grape jelly, but my favorite jelly is probably crabapple.

5.  Are you easily intimidated? Who or what intimidates you?

I don't think I'm generally EASILY intimidated, but a situation that intimidates me these days is putting myself into some kind of spotlight in front of people I don't know well. I lost a lot of confidence when we moved and haven't won it back yet. I'm intimidated by the possibility that I won't be good enough at whatever the thing is and then will be embarrassed in front of people who I'm friendly with but aren't yet my friends.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

We were very glad that the severe weather warnings for our area yesterday turned out to be mostly warnings, and less severe weather than we were prepared for. Lots of rain, and very heavy rain at times, thunder and lightning, but I don't believe there were any tornados around us this time. There was some flooding that made the morning commute a slow one. These photos were taken outside our apartment, within about a forty-five minute span of time. No filters - look at how the color of the sky changed!

How's the weather in your area? Leave a comment and let me know!

  1. I don’t think our weather was quite as bad as expected and I’m so glad. We canceled our Bible Study and that was good cause it was raining pretty hard about the time people would have been driving in. Glad you guys were safe too.

    1. Yes I'm very glad the storms weren't as damaging as we were preparing for! There's been some flooding but overall, nothing too serious. Glad you stayed safe, and that you stopped by to comment! (Sorry it took me so long to reply!)

  2. That same front came through Alabama. There were two small tornadoes that touched down about an hour from where we live. We get lots of tornadoes in Alabama and I saw a meme that said, "It is tornado season. When the news van pulls into your driveway, make sure you have your teeth in and your bra on." haha!

  3. I’m not used to tornadoes. Or hurricanes. I’m more comfortable with earthquakes and mudslides. 😜

    1. It's funny what we get used to, isn't it? I guess we all tend to prefer the storms or "disasters" that we have a good idea how to handle rather than the things we have no experience with! I know I would be terrified of an earthquake. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
