Currently . . . August 7, 2025

At the beginning of each month I've been participating in the "Currently" link-up hosted at Overflowing With Thankfulness. Our hostess Jennifer posts a set of action verb prompts for the month and writers respond. So, without further ado, here are this month's prompts and what's happening currently . . .

***********

Loving - Things I'm loving right now include:

We just got back from a little vacation so although I'm NOT loving being back to work and all, I sure loved spending time with family, relaxing, playing games, sitting at the campfire or in a hot tub, enjoying nature on beautiful summer days, and seeing interesting architecture.

We also just celebrated our anniversary - 38 years! Loving that as well!

Looking forward to - Well, we just finished our vacationing so that's behind us now and we don't have any big plans coming up. It's almost a month away, but I am looking forward to going to see the Blue Jays play the Reds on Labour Day!

Scheduling - hopefully we've finished scheduling doctor's appointments and surgeries and such for awhile. My husband just had surgery to remove melanoma from his ear (today in fact - I'm writing some of this while in the visitor's lounge at the hospital) and we are trusting that the cancer was caught early enough and has not spread.

If my sprained ankle doesn't feel a lot better over the next few days, I suppose I'll be forced to schedule some kind of follow-up to get that checked out. It was doing really well, even with all the walking while on vacation, but yesterday it hurt more and was swelling again although I was being careful to stay off it and rest it at work. It's swollen today as well so whenever I get home I will put it up and ice it and keep my fingers crossed!

I guess it's time to schedule an eye doctor appointment pretty soon too, now that I think about it.

Buying - I just bought a new desk chair yesterday, finally! It's still in the box though. We just talked about preparing ourselves for the medical bills that will be coming after the surgery, and the conclusion is that we should probably NOT be buying anything unnecessary for a little while.

Gearing up for - a busy weekend! The chorus family picnic is on Saturday, and I am planning to go to that by myself. I think hubby and I will both go to the church family picnic on Sunday after church, depending on how he feels, of course. We'll be playing things by ear (no pun intended!) for the next little bit.

Quotable (I've enjoyed hunting up little quotes to sprinkle into my posts, and I host a regular Wednesday Quotes link party based on interesting quotes, but I've still got such a collection that I have to keep sharing them!):

Sometimes if you stand on the bottom rail of a bridge and lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you will suddenly know everything there is to be known. ~A.A. Milne

What a happy and holy fashion it is that those who love one another should rest on the same pillow. ~Nathaniel Hawthorne

Happy Anniversary to us!
We do each have our own pillow though.

Consider this your invitation to stop by the current link-up and join us: WQ - Spiritual Life. The link-up is open for two weeks, and the next one will open on August 20th, with the theme "Writing Letters"

Some fun things I've found during coffee breaks:

I didn't get a photo of it, but while traveling from Deep Creek MD up to Fallingwater in PA, we saw a yellow road sign that had an arrow pointing drivers towards the Rt 40 and saying "YOUR GPS IS WRONG"

This was after dinner break instead of
coffee break, but I found a tame bear to ride.

Seen in Wheeling: But wouldn't everyone
prefer a fireproof hotel, given the choice?

  2. Thanks for coming by Marmelade Gypsy and checking out my book list. I see you have one on another blog -- I'll be by. It sounds like a fabulous holiday. Is that Fallingwater? I've always wanted to visit there. Sending good wishes for your ankle and your husband's recovery too.

    1. Thank you - so far, so good; he is feeling pretty good so the trick might be to make him take it easy for another week or two.
