One word. Five minutes to write about it. This is the idea behind Five Minute Friday and this is today's free-writing post.
soon enough
coming soon
it will be over soon

Better days are coming soon.
It will be over soon.
Soon this will all be a memory.
When we're going through something hard or painful, we hear these reminders that it won't last forever and that we'll get through it. Soon. But we're also told to treasure happy moments, because they won't last forever either. Good times may pass us by sooner than we'd like.
Soon this will be just a memory.
They grow up too soon.
These days will be gone too soon.
Cousin Jimmy says that a man in Priest Pond says the end of the world is coming soon. I hope it won't come till I've seen everything in it. ~L.M. Montgomery
Whether we are experiencing good times, difficult times, or somewhere in between, one thing we can count on is that time will keep marching on and things will change. The sun will set and will rise again. Spring will come, but so will winter. The world will keep turning.
Whether we are anxious for a negative experience to be over, for a longed-for day to come quickly, or for happy times to continue, we would be wise to set our hope and expectation on God's promises. He promises to hear our prayers, so we can expect his answer soon. He assures us that Jesus is coming back soon, so we can get ready and be eagerly anticipating that day.
This is what the LORD says: "Maintain justice and do what is right, for my salvation is close at hand and my righteousness will soon be revealed."
~Isaiah 56:1~
Knowing that trials will be over soon, and believing that peace and justice are coming soon can help us practice patience and persistence in prayer, and motivate us to be prepared and share our hope with others.
Jesus soon is coming, and Christmas too,
Good reason for being happy, Helping people to do.
~Miguel El Portugues
"Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth. I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown."
~Revelation 3:10-11~
"Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.
"Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city."
He who testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming soon." Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
~Revelation 22:12-14, 20~

(Anyone else remember the band Daniel Amos? I loved them way back in the 80s.)
How did it get so late so soon?
It's night before it's afternoon.
December is here before it's June.
My goodness, how the time has flewn.
How did it get so late so soon?
~Dr. Seuss

The hope that's coming soon during the pain. Thank you for sharing. Your mind's ability to pull quotes and verses like that is amazing! =)
ReplyDeleteOh I definitely make use of search engines to collect the quotes - and I don't count that in my Five Minute Limit either! Thanks for visiting!
DeleteYesterday I thought it curtains,
ReplyDeleteand that played hard with my mind,
but time ended short breath and hurtin',
so I guess it was just Venetian blinds.
I guess the point is bad things happen
and they do most always end,
so I'll be be-boppin' and a-snappin'
fingers to the very end
of the life-song God has given
for me to be singer, dancer,
to show that one can keep on livin'
even in the grip of cancer,
and that when the last notes are gone
comes rebirth and a fresh bright dawn.
Thank you, Andrew - your joy and good humour are such an inspiring example.
