At the beginning of each month I've been participating in the "Currently" link-up hosted at Overflowing With Thankfulness. Our hostess Jennifer posts a set of action verb prompts for the month and writers respond. So, without further ado, here are this month's prompts and what's happening currently . . .
***********
Loving - the opportunity to join a women's chorus that is so much fun and has become a highlight of each week. So far, it's the one thing I've found to do that is really for ME. It's positive and encouraging and gives me something to work towards and look forward to in my otherwise rather dull existence. (That sounds depressing! It's just that the days are all very much the same since I'm not working and we don't have a social circle at all.)
Picturing - I've been trying to picture what the next couple of weekend trips and short vacations will be like. We're going back to Maryland next week for our daughter's graduation, and again sometime in July for a hockey tournament my husband will play in. I'm having trouble figuring that one out because I don't have the dates yet.
I've also been picturing what I want in a part-time job, and in a house once we're ready to buy one here. I guess I could just take a job that I think sounds good and see how it goes. It's more to have something to do and to get out of the house than anything else. I have some ideas about the house beyond just basics―a few features I'd like in kitchen and bathrooms but might not necessarily be must-haves. I really want some kind of covered porch or deck where I could have a good view of the bird feeders I plan to put up, and a Florida room is on my wish list too. There's still plenty of time before we start hunting, but it's good to think ahead!
Craving - Mexican food and margaritas! I thought I was being smart by making a meal plan for a bit longer than I usually do, but forgot about Cinco de Mayo tomorrow. Which, for us, is usually just about the menu, I'll admit. At least it's easy to change up my meal plan―I just have to decide what we're having and run to the store tonight!
Wishing - wishing we were more like an hour away from our people instead of about six hours. Then we could see them a lot more often, and a whole lot of other things would be different too. Also wishing that the world was a safer and saner place than what it seems to be these days.
Collecting - another Conqueror Challenge medal! I finished the Yosemite one a couple weeks ago and it arrived in the mail while I was in Maryland. That was a fun piece of mail to come home to! I just started my next virtual route - The Jesus Trail. I stick to the shorter routes, and use it as a motivator to get outside for walks. And I guess I need all the help I can get with motivation, because I'm not in shape and it's not easy to change my habits, especially if I have to walk alone. (And by the way, no, I still have not used the exercise room available to us in this neighborhood. Shame on me.) Hopefully there are fewer rainy days so I'll be a bit more willing to walk the trail around the neighborhood.
If you're interested in finding out more about these challenges, here's my referral link: The Conqueror Virtual Challenges. They recently added a set of European city challenges (London, Paris, and Rome), and the newest challenge, Chichen Itza, is on sale right now. I don't know how long that sale lasts though.
This post will be linked at this month's "Currently" link-up hosted by Overflowing With Thankfulness. Shout out to Anne in Residence who originated the link-up and is taking a break from hosting for now.

I enjoyed reading this. We too are not sure what we will be doing or eating since tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo. All of the restaurants will be crazy busy tomorrow. I hope you find something good to cook!
ReplyDeleteexactly! I'd be happy to go to a restaurant, but my choice (Chuy's) will be WAY too busy. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteOne of these days I AM going to sign up for that medal challenge! They sound so fun. We debated switching up our menu for cinco de mayo but ultimately I decided I was to lazy to go to the store so we're having homemade pizzas tonight instead. LOL. We'll have fajitas on Monday instead.
ReplyDeleteI think with the hiking you do, you could get some nice medals too! I really like being able to use the streetview in the virtual challenge app to see the sights along the route, in places I will never be able to travel to. We had a tex mex type chili mac yesterday and there's lots of leftovers so we'll have that tonight along with quesadillas and margaritas. :-)
DeleteI hope you find a part time job that's enjoyable!! :)
