It's time once again to share Something Loved, Something Accomplished, Something Improved Upon, and Something Noticed from the past month or so. I meant to get this done on Friday evening or sometime Saturday, but didn't quite make it. As always, I'll include my Something Read and a little of What's Coming Up Soon.
Something Loved
As always, time with family is top of the list of things loved! We started the month in Maryland, spending time with the kids there, and also with my parents who were visiting. Look at the warm weather we were enjoying just one month ago!
Any time I get with this sweet girl is something I really love. She hung out on the deck with Papa and also helped Nonny (me) and Gramma do some baking.
I loved playing games with the family too. Dominoes tournament!
Also loved the time spent with our Ohio family, including a day at Yellow Springs, visiting the dairy and doing some hiking.
We got to three hockey games during the month, and loved those. All three games were exciting and competitive.
Loved celebrating my hubby's birthday!
Something Accomplished
We tried something new to us for our Thanksgiving dinner this time around. We did the turkey on our grill/smoker and it turned out so good! I suppose it's also something of an accomplishment that we prepared the entire meal completely on our own. No helpers in the kitchen. However, it was also just the two of us at the table, and it may sound odd but I consider it an accomplishment that I made it through the entire day without crying. It was, after all, the first time that it's been only the two of us for Thanksgiving. The Maryland family all had their own plans, and our Ohio son and his family spent Thanksgiving with his wife's family.
Something That Needs Improvement
My organization and time management. This is an ongoing theme for me, because my organization skills are just not that great, but it's been weighing on me lately that my desk (at home) is in chaos and I don't ever seem to have the time to clean the desk and my files up properly. Getting holiday decor out has emphasized the haphazard nature of my spare room and closet. I still don't know when I will make the time but there are a bunch of organizational projects like this that I need to get serious about completing. Or at least making decent progress on them!
Something Noticed (In our Lives or Around Town)
Last weekend we went to the tree lighting celebration in town, and got to see a holiday drone show. My husband mentioned a drone show several days before and that was the first I'd heard of such a thing. So I really had no idea what to expect. It was pretty cool! Don't think it will take the place of fireworks, because it doesn't have the punch and excitement of a fireworks show, but it's quiet which I imagine is appreciated by dog owners! And it has the potential to be really different every time, while fireworks, as my son pointed out, are mostly the same every time.

Something Read
Sisters of Fortune by Anna Lee Huber
The Sentence is Death by Anthony Horowitz
Here are the books I'm currently reading:
Harvest of Gold by Tessa Afshar - I'd shelved it recently, but just finished another book, so I'll get back to this.
What's Coming Up Soon?
All the holiday related things! Over the next week my chorus is caroling at three different venues. I'll also be caroling with a quartet in a couple weeks. We've got plans to attend a Christmas dinner theater production, and our calendar is starting to fill up with a few other things.

That drone show does look so neat! I am loving all the family photos.
ReplyDeleteI'm not suggesting we give up fireworks, but the drone show is a fun and different option! thanks for stopping by and commenting!
DeleteYour turkey and all the fixins' look really good. I can see how it would seem odd to just have you and your husband at Thanksgiving. But, fortunately, it looks like you had a lot of family time near Thanksgiving. Great family pics!
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm glad we had family get-togethers before and after Thanksgiving to ease the potential for loneliness on the day! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
DeleteFrom popping around to the other posts I think we are all feeling disorganized and stressed! Love your pics. I want to visit Maryland someday, glad you had so much time with family.
