WQ - Ocean Waves

I'm participating in the Wednesday Quotes link-up hosted by Marsha at Always Write. In order to simplify her blogging schedule, Marsha has decided to choose themes for her posts as she goes, and has invited those of us who participate to simply include a quote in our post and choose our own themes as well. I still have the original list of prompts that I'll probably use from time to time, or I may combine my WQ posts with something else. Simplifying sounds like a good option for me as well!

Simplifying isn't going so great for me. Well, I'm simplifying, but I'm not keeping up with the blog the way I'd like to. Someday I'll learn some better juggling skills. Anyway, I had some photos and quotes pulled together on the Ocean theme that had been suggested for last week, but didn't finish organizing the post, so I'm doing it now, and maybe I'll do another WQ in a day or two.

Considering I lived in two states that were on the Atlantic coast for over twenty-five years, it may come as a bit of a surprise that I'm not absolutely in love with the beach or the water. I'm just not a beach person, I guess. I do love the ocean, especially the sound of the waves. We actually lived right across from the southern end of the Ocean City, NJ boardwalk during our first year in New Jersey, and it was amazing. Amazing! And every time I've visited the coast, I've been in awe.

The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever. ~Jacques Yves Cousteau

Because there's nothing more beautiful than the way the ocean refuses to stop kissing the shoreline, no matter how many times it's sent away. ~Sarah Kay

These photos are from the Bay of Fundy. The photo above is taken at low tide, and the one below is about the same spot, at nearly high tide.

The tide rises, the tide falls,
The twilight darkens, the curlew calls;
The little waves, with their soft, white hands,
Efface the footprints in the sands,
And the tide rises, the tide falls.
~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

A life on the ocean wave!
A home on the rolling deep,
Where the scattered waters rave,
And the winds their revels keep!
~Epes Sargent

One of the highlights (for me!) of the Atlantic Canada vacation we took many years ago was a tall ship whale-watching excursion off the coast of New Brunswick.

God is always seeking you. Every sunset. Every clear blue sky. Each ocean wave. The starry hosts of night. He blankets each new day with the invitation, ‘I am here.’ ~Louie Giglio

The LORD merely spoke,
and the heavens were created.
He breathed the word,
and all the stars were born.
He assigned the sea its boundaries
and locked the oceans in vast reservoirs.
~Psalm 33:6-7~

  2. I love the beach. If I could live on the coast, I would do it. There's just something so relaxing about being on the beach and walking along the shore. Your sunset pictures are fabulous.

I love this line in your Longfellow quote. "The little waves, with their soft, white hands,"

Walking in the gentle waves feel like a little caress on your feet and legs. I enjoyed your music, too. Thanks for the wonderful share. :)
