"Sh'ma, Yisra'el! ADONAI Eloheinu, ADONAI echad [Hear, Israel! ADONAI our God, ADONAI is one]; and you are to love ADONAI your God with all your heart, all your being and all your resources. These words, which I am ordering you today, are to be on your heart; and you are to teach them carefully to your children. You are to talk about them when you sit at home, when you are traveling on the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them on your hand as a sign, put them at the front of a headband around your forehead, and write them on the door-frames of your house and on your gates."
~Deuteronomy 6:4-9 (CJB)~
Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.
~Deuteronomy 6:4-9 (NIV)~
Beautiful verse of Scripture. I need to find it in my Bible and underline it, if I haven't already. And your photograph of the children on the path in the dappled shade is almost like a water color painting. Like a Monet!!
ReplyDeleteI finally got my Everyday Things photo challenge post done for May but too late to join up with you. Will you have a new list of prompts for June on Tuesday? I will be back to check.
Thanks for your kind comments! Yes, there is a new post with prompts ready to go on Tuesday morning and I'd love to have you join. Feel free to link up your May post as well!
DeleteThe imagery of God's Word being tied to one's forehead is powerful. It would be most difficult to forget Him as we would physically be carrying Him with us. May we not forget that He is in our hearts, and today we are carrying Him with us wherever we go. Grateful to have stopped here this morning!
ReplyDeleteThe imagery of having the name on your forehead also reminds me of the high priest having "Holy to the Lord" on his forehead and bearing the names of the tribes when he went into the Holy of Holies. What a responsibility and privilege we have to bear God's name and the names of his people! Thanks for stopping by and adding this insight!
DeleteYour images here are always such a great invitation to gratitude for God's creative beauty.
