Changes I need to make: eating healthier, being more active, losing weight. Changes I'd like to make: be better organized so I can use my time and money to do more of the things that bring me joy.
I think "break the ice" is closest. Even though we've been attending our church for a year, and I've been a chorus member for about nine months, and I've been at my job for about six months, there is still a sense that I'm only starting to know people and feel comfortable in settings that aren't totally familiar yet. I'm still learning who everyone is, how I might fit in, how things operate. And that means I'm still at the "breaking the ice" stage of building friendships.
I always have tons of projects I've been putting off, because I'm such a procrastinator! Let's see, just off the top of my head here are a couple of things . . . I have yet to properly organize all my hair and makeup and toiletry things in my vanity. It still looks like I moved in a couple weeks ago. My desk and filing system needs a good cleaning out and purging and I've been putting that off. Those two things I need to look after by the end of the month. We also have a lot of stuff back in Maryland that we need to sort and purge and pack, and that's a daunting project! I don't expect we'll finish that project this year, but we had better make some progress on our next visit home!
I have tried all of those except persimmons and kumquats. And I like all of them except I'm not a huge fan of pears. They're okay, but I don't like the texture. I think clementines would be my favorite, although I really like grapefruit too.
I feel like being courageous involves being good and honorable even when the odds are stacked against you. Being brave is knowing an action is risky but facing fear and doing it anyway. I think being courageous is bravely doing the right thing even if it seems like you're alone or putting yourself in some kind of danger. Maybe not physical danger, but taking a chance that you'll be the only one taking a stand for what's right or defending someone weaker.
I launched the Twenty-Six Lists link-up this week - yesterday, actually - and I almost didn't get my own post done on time! It's a huge adjustment going from a four-hour workday to an eight-hour day and yes, I'm only a couple days in, but it will take some time for me to figure out how to have time to do things I want to do. Especially on Mondays. I got home from chorus late Monday and was about to crash when it occurred to me that I'd better finish and schedule my Twenty-Six Lists post! Here's where you can find it if you'd like to join: Twenty-Six Lists - Goals and Accomplishments
Nice to meet you and good luck with switching your hours up to full time - it will definitely need a bit more organising of your time but having glanced around your blog I don't think you'll struggle too much with it.
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much! It will take some getting used to this new schedule, but I hope it will all work out. Thank you for stopping by and commenting!
DeleteI could see not liking pears because of the texture and if you get a bad one, that's really awful! But I still love a good ripe pear.
ReplyDeleteI always think of pears as being almost gritty, but I know a good one really isn't. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteOh I love that quote about the interstate road works lol. So true! Everywhere you go it seems. I feel like projects have piled up a bit here too. Not so much from procrastination but more from busy-ness with other things. There are a rare few free days and then I want to rest , not tackle the attic. Have a nice week!
ReplyDeleteYes, not enough free time to relax AND to tackle projects! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
DeleteI'm a procrastinator too. Hoping I'll accomplish some decluttering this year. I can't even imagine going back to work again...at least not now. But who knows what the future may hold.
ReplyDeleteHaha...I think we can all pick a highway to treat ourselves like. I'm glad you are hanging in there and breaking the ice at church. It's worth the effort. I was planning on checking out your Tuesday link up and the snow made me lethargic. :) Take care.
ReplyDeleteEvery city has its own highway story, I think! I'd love to have you join in the Tuesday link-up - there's lots of time, as it's open for two weeks. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
DeleteYes to I-70, but I'd also add in 465 around Indianapolis! I'm glad you are beginning to feel more at home this year. Will this ever be a permanent move, or is it just for a few years, and you'll return to Maryland?
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend, Kym!

I'm sure every major city has some equivalent road or highway that's always under construction!
DeleteI don't think it's likely that we'll move back to Maryland, even though we have such strong family and friendship ties there. But we're still a little up in the air about whether Ohio will be permanent. We're planning on it being permanent for around 7-10 years but after that (when we actually retire) who knows? Might depend somewhat on where our kids wind up by then. We're going to stay in our townhouse for another year, but will be considering buying something.
thanks for stopping by and commenting!
I enjoyed reading your answers and I'm heading over to check out Twenty-Six Lists.
