Welcome to another installment of my challenge and reminder to myself to take photos somewhat regularly. I'm not a photographer, but I enjoy taking everyday photos of things I find interesting or want to remember later, and I find that I notice interesting things when I'm intentionally watching for them. Having some prompts that are open to interpretation has helped me pay a little more attention to what's around me. Every two weeks I have a few words and phrases that I'm focusing on, and I try to find opportunities to take pictures of these things each week. These were the prompts I assigned myself for the past couple weeks:

season (quarterly) - we haven't had a snow that has 'stuck' but this scene from our New Year's Day walk at Blendon Woods has a chilly wintery look to it.
beginning and/or end
happy - describes the snowman's face and mine when I opened this birthday gift!

at home (monthly) - getting ready for New Year's Eve
And a few bonus photos:
After opening Christmas gifts, we have a 'snowball' fight with the wadded-up wrapping paper - it's a family tradition!
Aubrey enjoyed her gifts almost as much as we enjoyed watching her with them. She got this little sofa from Uncle Cer and had the cute little couch potato pose down!
Christmas afternoon walk while the turkey was frying:
Rainbow and clouds spotted on the drive home on Boxing Day:
Another birthday gift that made me very happy - a painting by Meaghan:
New Year's Eve at our place was also when we opened the rest of the Christmas presents with the Ohio family. Veronica got this cool Super Mario LEGO set and started putting pieces together.
We toasted the New Year with my homemade hot buttered rum.
Had a visit from a woodpecker while we were getting our New Year's Day brunch ready . . .
and spotted some more birds on our late afternoon visit to Blendon Woods.
Also shared the path with at least seven deer and managed to get photos of a couple of them.
A very pleasant winter walk for New Year's Day.
I am sharing my photos every other Tuesday, along with my prompts for the next two weeks. You can use all or some of the prompts for your own photo posts, or none of the prompts and just link up a post featuring your photos. Simple rules: Your posts must be family-friendly; the photos must be your own; and the post must be mostly photos. If you do share I'd appreciate a mention and link to A Fresh Cup of Coffee on your post.
Everyday Images continues in 2024, every other Tuesday. And on the alternate Tuesdays, beginning on January 9th, I'm hosting the Twenty-Six Lists link-up. I'd love to have you join me for that too!

So many great photos. Love the little couch potato. It made me smile. Love all the wildlife photos. I think the cardinal is my favorite. I hope you have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteI loved her little couch potato pose! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
DeleteI love your wintry walk pictures. The bright red against the brown is so pretty. Happy new year!
ReplyDeletewe were surprised at how many cardinals were sharing the feeders at the park - dozens! Usually they are a little more territorial. But it gave great opportunity to get some photos and I loved that color contrast too. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
DeleteBeautiful winter vibes! Happy New Year and cheers to many more wintery adventures!
ReplyDeleteI do hope to explore the parks a few more times during the winter - it's a very different kind of beauty from the summer months! Thanks for stopping by and commenting, and for sharing your photos in the link-up!
DeleteThat is so neat that you got to see so much wildlife on your walk! That rarely happens (I think we're all much too loud when we walk and talk).
ReplyDeleteI think our luck was largely due to it being a very quiet day in the park (holiday) and we were there in the very late afternoon. Timing is everything! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
DeleteThese are such beautiful photos, Kym! And, what a wonderful way to record your life. I hope you'll link up with us this Thursday!
