Currently . . . January 4, 2023

At the beginning of each month I've been participating in the "Currently" link-up hosted at Overflowing With Thankfulness. Our hostess Jennifer posts a set of action verb prompts for the month and writers respond. So, without further ado, here are this month's prompts and what's happening currently . . .

***********

Loving - Things I'm loving right now include:

The last few days of a relaxed schedule work week. I am going full time at work ― starting Monday, I believe ― which is a good thing, but as it becomes reality I also am a bit anxious about how I'll be able to manage my time when I'm spending a long day at work.

Having my cat here keeping us company. We decided to see how she managed here and it seems like a good fit. Merida strongly prefers peace and quiet, and gets stressed out when there are a lot of people around or lots of activity going on around her, and obviously having people coming and going is not an issue here where we very rarely have any company. She gets the calm solitude she needs, and we get to enjoy her cozy presence. When she's in the mood, of course!

Looking forward to - the benefits that will come with the full time job: better health insurance and at a better price (although after all the headaches with our current health insurance, I'll be so happy just to have a different company!), and the extra income.

Resolving - To manage my time and money better this year. To accomplish that I'll need to settle into a new weekly routine and rhythm that balances my workdays with the things I want and need to do in my non-working hours.

To find a rhythm of healthier eating and sleeping habits. It's been so long since I've slept well consistently, but I don't have the luxury of an afternoon nap to fall back on any more so I need to solve that problem.

Doing to stay cozy this month - I just got this flannel shacket and it's very cozy so I've been wearing it a lot. My daughter gave me a pretty lightweight quilt for Christmas and although I haven't spent a lot of time sitting cuddled up in it or with it across my lap, I think it lends cozy atmosphere just draped on the chair.

Cooking - I haven't done much cooking this week, but I'm going to have to figure out how to do solid meal plans and cook ahead a bit, because with the change to my work schedule I won't have a lot of time to prep meals once I get home. It's going to have to be quick stuff!

Reading - currently reading these:

  2. Best of luck with adjusting to the new work schedule. The increased income and benefits will be worth it but it's definitely a trade off in terms of time and how to spend non-working hours.

  3. Oh I am right there with you on needing to figure out more sleep... I have no trouble falling asleep but really struggle with staying asleep lately. I'm thinking that's what's causing all my tension headaches too. Good luck on going full time; I'm sure it will be an adjustment at first but will settle in soon enough.
