Currently . . . November 2, 2023

At the beginning of each month I've been participating in the "Currently" link-up hosted at Overflowing With Thankfulness. (I'm a little later than usual this month!) Our hostess Jennifer posts a set of action verb prompts for the month and writers respond. So, without further ado, here are this month's prompts and what's happening currently . . .

***********

Loving - Things I'm loving right now include:

Making music with friends here at the Sweet Adelines International Convention & Competition in Louisville! Today is performance day for our chorus in the competition and I'm taking a little break to chill a bit before meeting to head backstage. Get ready for the rest of this edition of 'Currently' to kind of have tunnel vision and be about this week's convention, because this is my first time doing it. And also for a lack of photos since I'm not at home.

Buying - I treated myself to a couple of barbershop themed t-shirts, but other than that I'm trying not to buy things because this whole weekend is expensive enough! Hotel, event ticket, and all the required costume and makeup elements - it all adds up!

Prepping - As I said, at this moment, I'm prepping to go on stage with the chorus a little bit later this afternoon. We've spent months prepping for this competition, and the goal is to be on the finals stage on Saturday!

Borrowing - library books, or I will be when I get back. I've got a couple things on hold and I'm so far down the waiting list that right now I can't remember what I requested!

Planning - to eat dinner at Guy Fieri's Smokehouse one day while I'm here! So many amazing looking restaurants, and I just don't have time (or funds) to try all of them. I had lunch at The Brown Hotel yesterday, and had the legendary Hot Brown Sandwich. Folks, it was SO GOOD. Guy Fieri's is the next most important restaurant to try!

Reading - currently reading these:

Garden of the Midnights by Hannah Linder
The Vanishing at Castle Moreau by Jaime Jo Wright
Ticker by Lisa Mantchev

More reading news and recent reviews are at Just A Second, and I've opened the Book Review Bulletin monthly link-up where I'd invite you to share your reviews as well.

What's currently happening in your life? Leave a comment and let me know! With the busy schedule here, it will take me awhile before I get around to visiting others, but I plan to come see what's going on currently for all of you - promise!

  1. Hope you enjoy your performance and do well in the competition. We are definitely going to need photos of you in your costume or whatever one wears for a Sweet Adelines performance.

I enjoy traveling but hate worrying about the expenses...and I always have to worry about the expenses. Hope you are able to eat at the Smokehouse and it is delicious and surprisingly affordable.

  2. I hope the performance went well!! I just read a book over the summer where they ate at the Brown hotel and had some really delicious sounding signature dishes. How neat that you were able to enjoy it!
