At the beginning of each month I've been participating in the "Currently" link-up hosted at Overflowing With Thankfulness. (I'm a little later than usual this month!) Our hostess Jennifer posts a set of action verb prompts for the month and writers respond. So, without further ado, here are this month's prompts and what's happening currently . . .
***********
Loving - Things I'm loving right now include:
The new memories made on our visit back to Alberta: We got to see all of my family again, and some of them we haven't seen for ten years! We got together with some long-time friends that we hadn't seen in ten years, and laughed harder than we've laughed in a long time. We visited Banff and enjoyed a perfect weather day in the mountains.
A little more freedom to travel: One good thing about not having pets right now is that we didn't have to worry about who was going to feed them and look after them while we were away. Kids are all adults and don't even live with us, so no planning around them in any way either. It feels almost like we can pick up and go whenever we want to, although of course we have to book time off work. And once the bills come in, it will feel a little different! Ha!
Good food: Any meal that I don't have to cook or clean up after is probably a good meal, so there's that. But there were some real treats on the table recently - a Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich with sweet potato fries, some excellent lattes for coffee breaks, brisket poutine, shawarma (no photo of the shawarma rice bowl, just the napkin! Because the food disappeared so quickly, I guess.), and waffles and awesome sauce. (You don't know about Awesome Sauce? I got you. I shared the recipe on my homeschool blog years ago, HERE)
See my post Waffles and Awesome Sauce on Homeschool Coffee Break.
Excited About - being part of the Scioto Valley Chorus as we prepare for the International in Louisville in just a few weeks!
Watching - what I eat, but not very carefully! My husband and I decided to try a more keto-friendly diet, but obviously took a break from it while on vacation. So now we're back to limiting carbs again, except . . . we've got a weekend ahead that will not be keto-friendly at all. Hoping we won't pay a price at the scales!
Dreaming - about the upcoming holidays, or starting to. Looking forward to getting together with all my kids again, but also wondering what that will look like this year.
Observing - Thanksgiving (Canadian version!) this coming weekend. It was actually on Monday, but since we had just returned from vacation and everyone was working, we planned our Thanksgiving feast for the weekend instead. (See my Homeschool Coffee Break post: Happy Thanksgiving! Canadian Style for background)
Reading - currently reading these:
A Louisiana Christmas To Remember - novella collection
Voice of the Ancient by Connilyn Cossette
The Vanishing at Castle Moreau by Jaime Jo Wright
More reading news and recent reviews are at Just A Second, and I've opened the Book Review Bulletin monthly link-up where I'd invite you to share your reviews as well.

How nice to visit family and friends. The food sounds good and I never heard of the awesome sauce as it sounds interesting. I enjoyed reading this post and thanks for the blog visit. I hope you have a nice month!
ReplyDeleteAwesome Sauce is really sort of a vanilla custard type sauce, but my kids gave it the new name years ago and it stuck! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
DeleteIt sounds like you had such a wonderful trip to Canada! Hoping you have a happy Thanksgiving with your family this weekend.
ReplyDeleteThis weekend our Thanksgiving will be with friends, but we do have a family birthday to celebrate on the weekend as well! thanks for stopping by and commenting!
DeleteWow! I have never been to Banff but would love to go. Your photos make me want to go even more now! I'm so glad your trip went so well and had so much fun! Ah, food...it's such a problem, isn't it? Happy Thanksgiving a few days late, or a few weeks early!
ReplyDeleteCurrently, I'm sore and bruised. We painted one of the bedrooms so I'm sore from using muscles I don't use as a rule. I'm bruised because I, of course, managed to conk my head on a corner! But, I love the new room!
I invite you to join us for Weekend Traffic Jam every Thursday!
