Now God has revealed these things to us by the Spirit, since the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. For who knows a person's thoughts except his spirit within him? In the same way, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who comes from God, so that we may understand what has been freely given to us by God. We also speak these things, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual things to spiritual people. But the person without the Spirit does not receive what comes from God's Spirit, because it is foolishness to him; he is not able to understand it since it is evaluated spiritually. The spiritual person, however, can evaluate everything, and yet he himself cannot be evaluated by anyone. For
who has known the Lord's mind,
that he may instruct him?
But we have the mind of Christ.
~I Corinthians 2:10-16 (CSB)~
Have you ever thought about it that way? That God's purpose in giving us the Holy Spirit is so we can understand the Word. So we can begin to think and comprehend in a Christlike way. This is how our minds and thoughts can be renewed and transformed, so that we're not stuck in the world's thought patterns, but can think spiritually. (Romans 12:2)
So often we plunge into the Bible without seeking the Spirit's help. Maybe that's why there's so much disagreement over what Scripture says and means.
ReplyDeleteThat's true, I think we'd find much more common ground if we were making sure we were listening to the Holy Spirit. Thanks for commenting and for linking up!
DeleteThis is a very good explanation of how we are meant to think. In a Christ like way. The world will tell us all different kinds of ways to think according to which kind of politics one leans toward but the word of God is true and the world of God calls us to love one another as He loves us.
ReplyDeleteIt is so important to allow the Holy Spirit to lead us and guide us in His Holy Words, Kym.
