At the beginning of each month I've been participating in the "Currently" link-up hosted at Overflowing With Thankfulness. Our hostess Jennifer posts a set of action verb prompts for the month and writers respond. So, without further ado, here are this month's prompts and what's happening currently . . .
***********
Loving - Things I'm loving right now include:
All the holiday music!
Holiday lights!
Having our home decorated for the holidays.
Watching holiday shows and movies.
Looking forward to - We're going out for lunch with friends from church on Sunday, and next Saturday we're going with a group from church to see a dinner theater presentation of "Holiday Inn". That evening I'm getting my first chance to perform with a quartet too!
And of course, I'm so excited about spending Christmas with the whole family in Maryland! We will all be at the 'homestead' for several days. I'm looking forward to celebrating and having fun together, though I guess I need to get moving on the gift list first (see the next prompt!). Looking forward to seeing a few friends as well.
Buying - I'm embarrassed to admit this, but I really haven't bought any Christmas gifts yet! I think I'm going to have to rely heavily on Amazon for all of that! I just bought a couple new sets of flannel sheets for the winter season, and I recently bought a new ugly Christmas sweater.
Hoping - I can get everything on my holiday to-do list done, without getting too frazzled. I have most of the gifts to buy, and quite a few things I want to do and see during the holidays. But I'm also hoping there will be relaxed evenings at home watching holiday shows.
Baking - I baked pumpkin squares and pumpkin cookies last week, as well as a chocolate cheesecake. Planning to bake banana bread or cake today or tomorrow. I will do some Christmas cookies and treats but not until next week. Nanaimo Bars, shortbreads, and probably peppernuts, but other than that I don't know. It's been a minute since I baked bread, and it's come up in conversation a few times, so I suppose I should plan on doing that too!
See my post Holiday Sweets and Treats at Homeschool Coffee Break for the Nanaimo Bar and Peppernuts recipes.

Quotable (I've enjoyed hunting up little quotes to sprinkle into my posts, and I host a regular Wednesday Quotes link party based on interesting quotes, but I've still got such a collection that I have to keep sharing them!):
The giver of every good and perfect gift has called upon us to mimic His giving, by grace, through faith, and this is not of ourselves. ~Nicholas of Myra
There's so much to be grateful for, words are poor things. ~Marilynne Robinson
A house is not a home unless it contains food and fire for the mind as well as the body. ~Benjamin Franklin
Going to a junkyard is a sobering experience. There you can see the ultimate destination of almost everything we desire. ~Roger von Oech
Consider this your invitation to stop by the current link-up and join us: WQ - Helping Hands. The next topic will be "Natural Beauty" and that link-up opens on December 11th.

Some fun things I've found during coffee breaks:
And since today is St Nicholas Day, here's a post on Homeschool Coffee Break that outlines some background on the saint and his feast day, and how St Nick became Santa Claus: Waiting For Saint Nicholas

We haven't done any Christmas shopping yet either... Time to get on it!
ReplyDeleteI don't know why I keep putting it off! I guess it's kind of because the in-person shopping really isn't as fun when it's just me. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
DeleteI've bought presents and now I need to wrap them. I love your cute coffee ornaments on your tree. Good luck with shopping and I hope you enjoy the holidays.
