Welcome to Twenty-Six Lists! I hope you'll join me in this simple link-up, where I share a writing prompt for some kind of list, and invite you to share what's on your list. Your list can be very simple or include lots of explanation; short or long; a bullet point list or essay style. Interpret the list prompts however you like, depending on how much time you have to spend, and how much background you'd like to share.
At the beginning of 2024, I chose Rhythm as my Word of The Year because I realized I'd need to adjust my daily routines and work on my time management as I started a full time work schedule. I saw the need to establish a healthy, balanced rhythm to my days and weeks. So here we are about three quarters of the way through the year and my list prompt is "My Daily Routine" so let's see how I'm doing! If you're interested, here's my original WOTY post to explain: WQ - Rhythm Inspires
If you were to make a list of the daily rhythms or routines in your life, what would it look like? Here is a list of my daily - or almost daily! - rhythms.
My Weekday Routine
- I get up a few minutes after my husband, get dressed for the day, and then pack our lunches. I drink my water and take my vitamins, water the plants, and after he leaves, I have a cup of coffee and finish getting ready. I usually listen to a devotional (First 15) while I'm getting ready.
- My commute to work takes about half an hour, depending on traffic. Once at work, I usually start the day by going through emails and tying up any loose ends from the day before. I start processing and closing manifests mid-morning, and make sure I finish with the cash before I take my lunch break so I can lock it up safely.
- Whether I eat lunch in my office or in the break room, I read while I'm eating. Sometimes I try to make a couple of personal phone calls or spend a few minutes working on my personal to-do list during the break as well.
- The afternoon is spent finishing up the manifests, and doing as many other tasks as I have time for. The drive home usually takes at least 45 minutes, thanks to traffic. I usually have to stop for groceries one night a week.
- When I get home, it's time for dinner. If I've done a good job of planning ahead, I might have everything ready to go or my husband might have got something started. Sometimes I lie down for a few minutes once dinner is in the oven. (Mondays are almost always leftover nights, since I have to get out the door to chorus rehearsal right away. Wednesdays are Dinner + Discipleship at church)
- On the evenings we're at home, we usually clear up dinner and then relax. Hubby generally watches TV and/or works on a puzzle, while I usually spend time at the computer. Some evenings we go for a walk and occasionally do some shopping. We almost always have coffee in the evening too. After dinner is also the best time to get laundry and housework done, although I tend to save the bigger household tasks for the weekend.
- Before turning in for the night, I have some medicine to take, and I get the coffee maker set up for the morning. I do my Duolingo lessons in the evening, and almost always read for a bit before going to sleep.
The link-up is open for two weeks, with a new prompt every other Tuesday.

I like having a routine, it keeps me on track!
ReplyDeleteYes same here, and I really needed to stay on track last year! This year I sometimes feel like the track is a bit narrow! LOL Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
DeleteIt sounds like you have a pretty good routine going! We're still trying to find our back to school routine and while it varies each day depending on what we both have going on at least we're getting everything done from our "to do" lists each day.
ReplyDeleteOur homeschool routines always took a few weeks to get established, and we were never particularly strict about our daily schedules either. Right now I'm still figuring out exactly what time I need to leave the house to avoid being stuck behind school buses and other school related commute delays! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
