I'm participating in the Wednesday Quotes link-up hosted by Marsha at Always Write. In order to simplify her blogging schedule, Marsha has decided to choose themes for her posts as she goes, and has invited those of us who participate to simply include a quote in our post and choose our own themes as well. I still have the original list of prompts that I'll probably use from time to time, or I may combine my WQ posts with something else. Simplifying sounds like a good option for me as well!
The scheduled prompt for this week was Sunrise/Sunset, and I'm going with it! Don't we all love to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset? It happens every single day, but it still inspires awe and wonder. So many times the beauty of this daily event takes my breath away, and how I wish I could capture it in a photo! No matter how I try, my photos never seem to do God's masterpiece justice. I wonder if the poets and wordsmiths feel the same with their attempts to capture a description in writing.
I'll tell you how the Sun rose -
A Ribbon at a time . . .
~Emily Dickinson
No matter how dark the night, somehow the sun rises once again and all shadows are chased away. ~David Matthews
After 5000 years of recorded human history, you wonder, What part of 2,000,000 sunrises doesn't a pessimist understand? ~Robert Brault
Every sunset brings the promise of a new dawn. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
Now the drowsy sunshine
Slides far away
Into the happy morning
Of someone else's day.
~Harry Behn, "Evening"
Don't forget: Beautiful sunsets need cloudy skies. ~Paulo Coelho
For from the rising of the sun to its setting my name will be great among the nations, and in every place incense will be offered to my name, and a pure offering. For my name will be great among the nations, says the LORD of hosts.
~Malachi 1:11~
Praise the LORD.
Praise the LORD, you his servants;
praise the name of the LORD.
Let the name of the LORD be praised,
both now and forevermore.
From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets,
the name of the LORD is to be praised.
~Psalm 113:1-3~
There is nothing more musical than a sunset. ~Claude Debussy

Such beautiful photographs. There is not anything much more beautiful that the skies God created for us.
ReplyDeleteUntil I lived on the lake and we started doing a lot of sunset cruises I don't think I knew the value of clouds in getting a real beauty. I am a big fan of the sunrise and love that Emily Dickinson quote. Have a nice week!
ReplyDeleteThat quote is something that we kind of "know" but don't think about. I really like the idea of our sunset becoming someone else's sunrise. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
DeleteBeautiful quotes and beautiful photos! I haven't seen a sunrise in ages. We only have one eastern facing window, and it's the dog's room!

We don't have any windows that provide a good sunrise or sunset view. Depending on the time of year, we see some beautiful ones as we're driving to or from work, but of course I can't very well take photos of those! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
DeleteThose were beautiful pictures! Your title reminded me of the song Sunrise, Sunset that was from Fiddler on the Roof. They also played it at our wedding back in August, 1974. I have to go outside and look left to see the sunset. Thanks for sharing the verses too!
ReplyDeleteI definitely thought of the song as I was putting this together and choosing the title, even though I didn't include the song or even a quote from it! Thanks for stopping by and sharing that memory and a comment.
DeleteLove that song!!
DeleteGosh your photographs are gorgeous. I think having clouds diffuse the sunlight makes sunrises and sunsets more beautiful. We very often have no clouds all day long...beautiful blue...but not as interesting when the sun is rising or setting.
DeleteI agree - I never really thought too much about it, but you do need some clouds to give a really interesting sunrise or sunset. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
DeleteI love these quotes Kym and your photos are stunning!
ReplyDeleteThanks' so much for sharing with Sweet Tea & Friend's August link up.
