Currently . . . July 7, 2024

At the beginning of each month I've been participating in the "Currently" link-up hosted at Overflowing With Thankfulness. Our hostess Jennifer posts a set of action verb prompts for the month and writers respond. So, without further ado, here are this month's prompts and what's happening currently . . .

***********

Loving - Things I'm loving right now include:

Fireworks! If not right now, I certainly loved them within the past few days!

Having this interesting wetlands park with a great trail so close. We have yet to walk around the entire perimter, despite a couple of attempts. One night we just waited too late and it was getting dark. Then we tried again on Thursday afternoon and it rained!

I don't love swimming, but it's really great to have a pool here for our use, and we don't have to worry about cleaning it and all of that. The times we've been over this season it hasn't been crowded and it's been refreshing and relaxing to enjoy the water on hot summer days.

Looking forward to - I feel like my answers for this prompt are on repeat month after month. What I'm looking forward to is almost always an upcoming visit from our Maryland family or a trip to  Maryland that we have coming up. I guess it's good that we can see each other often enough that I usually have a get-together on the near horizon, right? Anyway, this time it's the latter, as we are planning a trip at the end of the month for my husband to play in a hockey tournament with the hockey buddies he played with for so many years. That will give me some time to get together with my friends, I hope, and obviously the big draw is time with the kids and granddaughter.

Savoring - the opportunities to sleep a little later or to have some extra downtime whenever possible. It was so good to sleep late on the 4th and have the day off without a tight schedule to follow. Then to have another chance to sleep in a bit on Saturday. We got a simple takeout breakfast on Saturday too, which is sort of a vacation treat in our world!

Celebrating - birthdays! Canada and the United States, and our daughter's birthday is the first week of July as well. Of course we weren't with her on her birthday, but got to video chat with her a bit. On the 4th, we spent the evening at our church Family Night and watched the local fireworks. On Friday we went to a nearby town to take in some of the carnival and their fireworks show, which was excellent!

Remembering - some of my experiences two years ago when I was recovering after a knee replacement. This one is funny, but it was quite the dilemma at the time!

Quotable (I've enjoyed hunting up little quotes to add to my Five Minute Friday posts, and I do a regular Wednesday Quotes post based on interesting quotes, but I've still got such a collection that I have to keep sharing them!):

The only reason a great many American families don't own an elephant is that they have never been offered an elephant for a dollar down and easy weekly payments. ~Mad Magazine

I suspect the truth is that we are waiting, all of us, against insurmountable odds, for something extraordinary to happen to us. ~ Khaled Hosseini

People do not seem to realize that their opinion of the world is also a confession of their character. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Some fun things I've found during coffee breaks:

If that doesn't explain the world right now, I don't know what would.

It's me in just a few years!

  1. No toilet paper on the roll -- that is the worst anytime but when recovering from surgery -- even worse! That Wetlands park looks amazing!

    1. It was a big deal in that moment, but so funny at the same time. I will say that after expending so much energy and creativity to figure out how to maneuver into another bathroom and get another roll of TP I had a LONG nap! LOL Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
