Wednesday Hodgepodge - May Day!

A hodgepodge is a jumble or assortment of things that might not appear to belong together. Joyce at From This Side of the Pond hosts a weekly link-up called Wednesday Hodgepodge that is a little collection of questions for bloggers to answer just for fun and to get to know each other. I always look forward to chatting with friends over coffee, so pour a cup of your favorite and let's visit for a few minutes!

Here are this week's questions - and my answers - for this week's Wednesday Hodgepodge.

1.  Mayday! Mayday! . . . when was the last time (or a recent time) you literally or figuratively needed to call for help? Elaborate.

I didn't actually call, but I really needed help figuring out our city taxes. I'm not entirely confident I did everything right, and I still need to finish registering so we can pay quarterly instead of a big chunk, and I might wind up calling if I can't figure that out. They sure don't make it easy. I think it's all about intimidating people. It's a power play.

2. May Day . . . when was the last time you danced? Do you have a lot of baskets? What's something you keep in a basket? What's your favorite purple flower?

Just over a week ago at chorus rehearsal, they made us dance a bit of jitterbug. My knees and feet were already tired and sore, so I wished I'd sat out that activity!

I have a few baskets. Off the top of my head I can think of three or four. I have a large catch-all basket on top of the desk that holds an extra purse and some odds and ends. I keep napkins in a square basket in the dining room. And there's a Longaberger basket in the guest bath that holds washcloths and some travel size shampoos and hand lotions.

I can't remember what they're called, but probably these daisy-like flowers. Or pansies. It's a toss-up between the two.

3. What's something you may do this month?

We may finally go see the Monet immersive art exhibit. We still haven't been, and I haven't checked whether it's still open. We may solidify plans to meet friends somewhere out west and then buy the airline tickets.

4. Do you like eggplant? Quick topic changes LOL? If you said yes in answer to the eggplant question how do you like your prepared? Of the following purple foods, which one is your favorite . . . plums, purple carrots, purple asparagus, eggplant, acai berries, blackberries, purple cauliflower, elderberries, purple potatoes, or passion fruit?

I do not care for eggplant at all. I don't hate it, but I would never choose it. I think I like blackberries best from the list, because blackberry preserves is a favorite. It's a tie for second place - purple carrots and elderberries. If grapes were on the list, that would have been my favorite!

5.  The calendar turns on Hodgepodge Day . . .

"Then you have to remember to be thankful; but in May one simply can't help being thankful that they are alive, if for nothing else." ~L.M. Montgomery

Tell us one thing you're thankful for today.

Well, in order to not take too long with this, today I'm thankful for music. The ability to make and enjoy music is really quite remarkable, and I think it's a great gift from God, so it only makes sense that we honor him with music.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

We are heading to the baseball game with our son and his family this evening, so I hope it doesn't rain. I suppose I'll probably have to link up and try to leave a few comments when we get home after the game!

What's something you may do this May? Leave a comment and let me know!

  4. I'd need help figuring out taxes of any kind. Yes you want to go with paying your taxes quarterly - I had a business years ago and that is how I did it AFTER I foolishly waited and had to pay it all. That was a hard lesson! Oh well, I was young.

  7. We have lots of baskets all around the house in a variety of sizes. I like pansies too but my thought for purple flowers were rhododendrons, irises, and lilacs... really I LOVE all purple flowers since those are my favorite color blooms.

    1. I don't think I finished commenting on last week's Hodgepodges either! Oops. I'm still hoping to get the immersive art exhibit but I feel like the chances are getting slimmer that we'll make it. Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting!
