Currently . . . May 2, 2024

At the beginning of each month I've been participating in the "Currently" link-up hosted at Overflowing With Thankfulness. Our hostess Jennifer posts a set of action verb prompts for the month and writers respond. So, without further ado, here are this month's prompts and what's happening currently . . .

Loving - Things I'm loving right now include:

Warmer, sunny days - but not too warm at night. Perfect spring weather! We've been using the grill a couple days a week, and it's quite comfortable to go for walks when it's warm but not blazing hot. We went to a baseball game last night and it was perfect weather for that too.

Listening to music and podcasts while at work. I'm by myself in my office most of the time, so I listen to whatever I want to, and I'm getting pretty skilled at hitting the pause the moment the phone rings so I can take the calls. Haha. They recently trained another person to answer phones in the accounting loop, so I'm also loving that the calls are being shared out a little bit more.

Jemima Puddle-Duck is still here with her eggs. By our reckoning, they should be hatching any time now, so we're hoping we'll get to see the ducklings when they emerge! Hopefully on the weekend when we're home most of the day. I might even get out there on a deck chair and keep watch!

Looking forward to - all the weekend and vacation things we will be able to do soon, with warmer weather and my husband's work schedule easing up on Saturdays. We've got a trip to Maryland planned for the Memorial Day weekend, and are looking at a couple of other possible trips during the next few months. Nothing else is firm yet, but we've got ideas we're working on!

Seeing - a little better, I think, now that I have new glasses. I got workplace glasses specifically for reading and for looking at a computer screen, which is what I do all day long at work. I felt like eye strain was becoming an issue and that generic reading glasses were not doing the job for me at work, and my new eye doc helped me out with that! I also need new prescription sunglasses, so I'll be ordering those soon.

Wanting - Wow, so many things . . . hmmm . . . Well, obviously, I'm really wanting to be able to go on all the weekend trips and vacations we're considering, but realistically I don't think we'll manage all of them.

Reading - I decided to do these last two prompts out of order, so I could just jump to the Coffee Break Reading list content that I usually include anyway. Here's what I'm currently reading, plus a few bonus tidbits:

Here's a very abbreviated version of the Coffee Break Reading list . . .

Reading - currently reading these:

Wimpy Weak and Woke by John L. Cooper
Voice of the Ancient by Connilyn Cossette

More reading news and recent reviews are at Just A Second.

Quotable (I've enjoyed hunting up little quotes to add to my Five Minute Friday posts, and I do a regular Wednesday Quotes post based on interesting quotes, but I've still got such a collection that I have to keep sharing them!):

The problem with doing nothing is not knowing when you are finished. ~Nelson DeMille

Whateer we worship, short of God, is sure to be our undoing. ~Mignon McLaughlin

And this month, I'm including this little graphic I made some time ago of a verse that really struck me. It was months ago now, but in reading the story of Jesus at the wedding of Cana, and the interaction that included his mother, this instruction that she gave the servants stood out to me. I believe this is the instruction we all need to take to heart - whatever Jesus is telling us, through Scripture and through prayer, we should listen and obey.

Some fun things I've found during coffee breaks:

I adored this Nathan Pyle design so much, I just ordered
it on a t-shirt. Hope it arrives soon!

Art for the office?

It's almost Star Wars Day

As my friend pointed out - perfect use of
photoshop! LOL

  1. Hope you are able to make most, if not all of your trips happen. We have a couple of trips in the works, too. My brother is getting married in June, then a beach trip to South Padre Island in July. And maybe a road trip to see family in the fall.

Has Jemima made you a grandma yet? How fun it will be to watch the babies hatch and grow. Is there water near you? My friend in Oklahoma has a pool and the ducks flock to her yard. She bought an inflatable fox to try to scare them but I think they have just embraced him as part of the family.

    1. No ducklings yet, but it's got to be any day now! There's a large pond in the center of our apartment neighborhood and we're not that far from it. A couple days ago the management had the swimming pool cover off to start getting it ready to open, and sure enough, the ducks were enjoying a swim! LOL

Your planned trips sound wonderful - hope you enjoy all of them! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
