Wednesday Hodgepodge - Keeping it Short and Sweet

A hodgepodge is a jumble or assortment of things that might not appear to belong together. Joyce at From This Side of the Pond hosts a weekly link-up called Wednesday Hodgepodge that is a little collection of questions for bloggers to answer just for fun and to get to know each other. I always look forward to chatting with friends over coffee, so pour a cup of your favorite and let's visit for a few minutes!

Here are this week's questions - and my answers - for this week's Wednesday Hodgepodge.

1. February is coming to a close. Give us a two-word phrase that tells us something about how yours went.

Short and Sweet!

2. If you had to describe how you're feeling right now as an amusement park ride, what ride are you on? Explain.

I can't think of the specific name of any of them, but you know those rides that start out kind of slow moving, like a tour, but then . . . surprise! and you're actually on a thrill ride or roller coaster? One of those. Like the old Backlot Tour at Disney Hollywood Studios. Why? Because I feel like my life is boring and tame and predictable, but just when I think I'm settled into something comfortable, everything will go awry somehow. In good ways and in upsetting ways. I definitely prefer the positive surprises to the frustrating or worrisome ones.

3. What's something on your desk or a nearby wall that cheers you up when you see it or walk past?

I have a couple of little bulletin boards on my desk, on either side of the computer monitor, and although it's not representative of my entire family, these mementos are right at eye level and make me happy. There's a black-and-white photo of a pouty me at about five years old or so, a very faded portrait of two-year-old me with my parents, a school photo of my granddaughter, and a card my dear friend painted for me. A little lower is one of my favorite photos of my daughter at about nine months old.

And these two family photos make me happy every time I see them. The first one is on top of my desk, and the second one is on the little counter right above my kitchen sink.

4. Are you a salad eater? How many salads do you typically eat in a week? Your favorite kind of salad?

I can eat a salad and enjoy it, but it's almost never my first choice. I'm very fussy about salad dressing (Thousand Island is the dressing of choice, and I'm okay with French or Catalina, but that's about it), and I like very simple salads. I like the lettuce, spinach, spring mix, etc, and some shredded carrots and croutons or crisps are good, but no tomatoes or onions or any other vegetables, please. So one or two salads a week. I don't regularly do salads at home.

5. Without telling us the category give us your top five _____________.
  • Cookies n Cream
  • Black Raspberry
  • Mocha Chip
  • Moose Tracks
  • Cookie Butter

6. Insert your own random thought here.

On Sunday we finally ate at a pizza place here in town that we've been curious about for months. Our "dinner club" group met there for lunch and it was really good. The decor is quite eclectic, and in the entry they have some Star Wars character models. I took a couple of photos for fun, including a selfie, and one of our new friends from the club offered to take a photo of me and hubby together. I'm shocked by how much I like it!

The category for my Mystery Top Five should be pretty easy. Can you guess what it is? Leave a comment and let me know!

    1. Happy Leap Day! I thought ice cream flavors would be very obvious but it was all I could think of! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

  2. Those are some of my favorite ice cream flavors too! I'm kind of surprised at how many people (from the link up posts that I've read anyway) don't eat salads all that regularly. I serve salad nearly every single night to go with our dinner... and end up eating one most days for lunch too.

    1. I'm sure I'd be healthier if I ate salads more often, but I guess I only "like" salad and don't "love" it! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

  3. I'm so surprised at the salad answers today. My mom made a tossed salad pretty much every. night with our dinner and I guess I did the same. I still love a salad, but it seems most in the HP this week aren't big salad eaters. I like your bulletin boards. I'm currently making a canvas wall in my office and am excited to get it all hung up. I am waiting on two more to arrive. Have a nice weekend!

    1. I thought I would be the only one who wasn't a salad lover, but there was a variety of responses to that questions. I'd like to have a canvas wall someday. :-) Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
