Wednesday Hodgepodge - Puzzling Things Out

A hodgepodge is a jumble or assortment of things that might not appear to belong together. Joyce at From This Side of the Pond hosts a weekly link-up called Wednesday Hodgepodge that is a little collection of questions for bloggers to answer just for fun and to get to know each other. I always look forward to chatting with friends over coffee, so pour a cup of your favorite and let's visit for a few minutes!

Here are this week's questions - and my answers - for this week's Wednesday Hodgepodge.

1. January 29th is National Puzzle Day. Do you enjoy puzzles? What kind (crossword, jigsaw, sudoku, etc)? How often do you work a puzzle?

My initial response was going to be that I don't like puzzles, but my thinking was too narrow! I don't enjoy jigsaw puzzles, but I do like word puzzles of all kinds, and I would say that some of the games I play on my phone would qualify as puzzles. Crosswords and word games like the Wordle are my favorites and I work on something like that almost every day for at least a few minutes.

2. Something you currently find 'puzzling'?

Why do none of the Amazon graphics work on my blog? I haven't had time to figure that out.

Why can't our health insurance company make anything easy? I'm still so frustrated with it.

Everything about dreams is weirdly puzzling.

3. What's your go-to dish to take to someone who needs a meal (new baby, bereavement, etc)?

Hmm, it's been a long time since I've done it, so I have to try and remember! I have a very simple baked chicken and stuffing that made a good comfort food dish to take to someone because it's almost everything in one dish and very easy to make and to reheat. For those that like chili, I've taken a large pot of that. And I almost always baked bread to take as well.

4. Do you watch any HGTV and/or The Food Network? If so, what's your favorite program there?

It's been ages since I watched any HGTV and a pretty long time since I watched The Food Network. We used to watch Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives regularly and it was probably my favorite food show. Love me some Guy Fieri! And we even planned to visit restaurants he'd featured when we went on vacation. I kind of like Chopped! as well.

5. Wrap up your January in five words, with a five word phrase, or with a five word sentence.

Not enough hours for everything!

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Almost through four weeks of working full time, which is hard to believe. In a way, it feels like I've been doing it much longer, since I've been working five days a week there since the summer, and only went to full eight hour days in January. Finding time to read and write and play on my blogs, and figuring out meal plans are my biggest challenges. If only making dinner was as easy as this:

What things are you puzzling out these days? Leave a comment and let me know!

  1. We don't watch any HGTV or Food Network shows anymore either but we used to watch a lot of them both! My son still credits Cupcake Wars for getting him into baking.

  2. I used to make this cheesy chicken and rice bake that was always very comforting. My kids got sick of it but man, what a good meal to gift someone.

  3. We've been to a number of 'diners-driveins-and dives' featured on that program. Most have lived up to the hype. Hope you have a great weekend!
