Talk about mixed messages in today's world! We're told not to copy others, to be ourselves, and yet it seems that so many people are focused on 'getting the look' of their favorite influencer or celebrity. We say we believe in individualism and yet we want to look and act like we fit in.

I guess we need to be careful about how much we copy others, and what types of things we copy. Trying to be like those we admire and are worthy is fine, but trying to become more like Jesus is so much better. Living out what God has planned for us is far better than trying to copy someone else's life.

Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
~Romans 12:2~

  1. I never really did fit in,
    for I was always trippy,
    wearing a big MAGA pin
    and looking like a hippie,
    wearing hand-me-down tie-dyes
    and headbands made of beads,
I see people roll their eyes
for I do not meet their needs.
When they hear me talk their talk,
    they get all excited,
but when I do not walk their walk
    they see me as benighted
and then leave me on my own,
at my best, to be alone.

    1. I don't think I fit in well either, but it's good not to be a stereotype, right? Thanks for another wonderful sonnet!

  3. it's a fine line isn't it, knowing what to copy. I want to copy good behaviours but more I want to see Christ come out in me. FMF10

  4. good point about the mixed messages - everyone wants to be individual, yet must be fashionable? Thanks Kym. Good we only have one to copy.
