I do think it started to feel very much like fall over the last several days, because it's been cooling off at night just enough so that you almost feel like you want a jacket. You don't really need it, but you kind of want one all the same. And it's been foggy a couple of mornings and that makes it feel and look like fall. There's just the start of the leaves turning too. Something I love to do . . . I guess just looking at fall colors. Fall is the best time for walks in the woods.
Goodness, most of my chores fall through the cracks when I get even a little bit busy! Putting laundry away is the first thing to go, and that's been happening a lot lately. It gets washed and dried and brought upstairs but if we've got a busy schedule, it sits in the basket or in folded piles and doesn't get put away. That is exactly the current situation this week, in fact.
3. What's something you're falling for lately?
I totally fell for the new Peanuts collab stuff from Starbucks and got myself a new mug. I'd been doing so well on not buying new mugs too. I hadn't acquired any new ones since Christmas!
Okay, first let me ask this . . . are all the pumpkin spice drinks actually pumpkin flavored, or are they flavored with the spices we associate with pumpkin pie? Because I don't detect that much pumpkin flavor. Anyway. All that aside, I like both pumpkin and pumpkin spice flavors but I'm honestly just kind of 'meh' about the pumpkin spice seasonal drinks at Starbucks and all the other coffee shops. I love pumpkin pie and pumpkin bread. A good pumpkin roll with cream cheese icing is my favorite, I think. I do like the pumpkin spice chai latte from Starbucks though. That is really good, especially with the cold foam.
High standards. If 90% is the grade required to earn an A and 70% is the grade required to pass the class, that shouldn't change for anybody. If you have to be able to lift a certain number of pounds and run a mile under a certain time in order to pass the fitness qualification to be a firefighter, that's the standard for everyone. Those kinds of standards need to apply regardless of skin color, sex, ethnicity, or any other factor. I also wish that standards for evaluating policy outcomes would remain the same no matter which political party we're talking about, and that journalists would report using the same standard regardless of political party. It is shameful the amount of blatant bias in most media outlets, because it's misleading often to the point of being almost falsehood.
Related to Question #1 - We're hoping for a nice fall day on Saturday, as we are finally going up to Cuyahoga Valley National Park! It's a bit early for full fall colors, but I think we'll get to see some leaves that have already turned.
Related to Question #5 - I'm in the middle of switching over to Linky Tools from InLinkz, following my random thoughts from last week. I kind of wish InLinkz hadn't changed their product because it put me in a position of having to change, but I think I'm actually getting a better deal with Linky Tools anyway which is how the free market works.

I enjoyed reading all of your answers but you really nailed question 5 with everything that you wrote. Standards should be the same for everyone and "journalists" should use the same standard but we know, unfortunately, that they don't. Your pumpkin roll looks good! I hope that you love CVNP- I think that you will as it's very pretty. It's great that you found a new company to use for link parties.
ReplyDeleteIt really is frustrating and ridiculous how political reporting style changes based on the party. As the saying goes, if it wasn't for double standards, they would have no standards at all.
DeleteI'm so looking forward to CVNP on Saturday and hopefully the weather will be good for it!
Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting!
Aw, but that Peanuts mug is adorable, how could you resist? Oh yes, I LOVE your answer to #5!! I hope the weather cooperates and you have a wonderful time at the national park.
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what I thought about the mug! I really had no choice. ;-)
DeleteFingers crossed for good weather on Saturday!

It has felt much cooler here too and I am loving it. It really is the best time for a walk in the woods to see everything changing.
ReplyDeleteYep! I said the same for question 2. It's always putting the laundry away that is the first thing to go although this week I am managing to stay on top of it.
From what I gather the pumpkin spice drinks are just the spices with no pumpkins in. lol
Yes, I still have the same basket of laundry sitting in my bedroom waiting to be put away! Maybe tonight . . . LOL
DeleteThat's exactly what the drinks are, but I do see how "pumpkin spice latte" sounds a little better than "ginger nutmeg etcetera latte" haha

Love the Peanuts mug! How cute!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't resist it! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI couldn't really think of good answers this week, so I didn't join in, but you have some good ones. One thing that did occur to me when I read through the questions was the fact that pumpkins (nor even the supposedly more flavourful butternut and other squashes) don't have much taste. It's the spices that get transferred to other autumn treats. You're the first I've read who's had the same thought. :) Oh, and I too have a basket of clean washing waiting to be put away... and another waiting to be ironed. Umm...maybe at the weekend? Or next?!
ReplyDeletesometimes I have trouble thinking of answers to the questions but I tend to just ramble until I come up with something. LOL
DeleteAbsolutely right about the pumpkins and other squash not having a whole lot of flavor on their own. It really is the spices that make them!
I finally got my basket of laundry put away today . . . but I'm doing the washing right now, so I may wind up with another basket that sits for awhile! Hope you got your clean washing caught up too! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
Your answer to #5 is one of the best I've read this Hodge Podge!! And I'm not sure there is any pumpkin on those fancy pumpkin drinks...which is funny!!

DeleteMaybe the pumpkin spice drinks would be more accurately named "Autumn Spice" - that sounds so good to me!
Thanks for the compliment and for taking the time to read and comment!
