Currently . . . June 6, 2025

At the beginning of each month I've been participating in the "Currently" link-up hosted at Overflowing With Thankfulness. Our hostess Jennifer posts a set of action verb prompts for the month and writers respond. So, without further ado, here are this month's prompts and what's happening currently . . .

***********

Loving - Things I'm loving right now include:

Warm weather and sunshine! It feels like we had an extra does of rain lately and it was getting tiresome. We had beautiful weather on Memorial Day weekend, though it was a little cool, and last weekend was absolutely gorgeous.

Doing outside - I haven't been outside a great deal yet this season, but we've got stuff planned. I'd like for us to go for a walk most evenings but hubby walks a lot at work and I'm usually too tired when I get home. So we need to make up for it on weekends, I guess. The pool opened a couple weeks ago, and we plan to use it as often as possible this year. We'll go check it out on Sunday when our granddaughter comes over. We went to our first baseball game of the season on Wednesday night when my chorus sang the anthem. We will probably go to a few more games over the summer.

We finally are getting our little patio area cleaned up. It was getting cluttered and had a lot of weeds volunteering and the plants in pots had pretty much given up. I keep hoping we can fix up the patio area so it's pleasant to spend time out there, but we'll see if that actually happens this year.

Cooking/grilling - Mostly burgers and hot dogs on the grill so far, but we'll be smoking meats on the grill most weekends now. My cooking hasn't been much to brag about lately. I try to plan quick meals on weeknights and do "better" dinners on the weekends.

Excited about - To be honest, I can't think of anything that I'm super stoked about right now. We don't have any big plans coming up soon that I'm gearing up for. On Monday, the chorus leadership team will be sharing the music and plan for our finals package for the international competition and we are excited to see what that will be, so I guess that's the thing I'm eagerly anticipating and excited about.

Wearing - t-shirts and jeans or capris most days. I change into very lightweight lounge pants as soon as I get home from work. Some days I wish I could wear a t-shirt dress or a skort to work, but my office is in the warehouse/shipping area so I generally follow the same safety dress code that the warehouse workers have. I'm glad I don't have to dress up for work though - very glad!

I recently got a new t-shirt dress that I hope will work to wear for church. It has pockets so I think it will work. (I play keyboards on worship team and use an in-ear monitor pack that I have to clip to a pocket or waistband somehow, so my non-pocketed dresses won't work)

Quotable (I've enjoyed hunting up little quotes to sprinkle into my posts, and I host a regular Wednesday Quotes link party based on interesting quotes, but I've still got such a collection that I have to keep sharing them!):

Summer is a promissory note signed in June, its long days spent and gone before you know it, and due to be repaid next January. ~Hal Borland

Consider this your invitation to stop by the current link-up and join us: WQ - The Value of Our Stories. The link-up is open for two weeks, and the next one will open on June 11th, with the theme "Summer Fun"

  1. Are the first two photos of your yard? It’s beautiful. I would very much enjoy a yard like that and the lawn and red roses. 🌹
I’m a bit bored lately with food. Too hot to grill. 101 today. Just keeping hydrated.
Enjoyed your memes especially the gal who is “outstanding” 🤣

    1. Oh I wish it was my yard! No, the two rose garden photos are from the courtyard behind the public library here in town. At least it's nearby and free.
Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting!

  2. I can sympathize with the patio. I’m just so unused to having such a small space I can call mine as we live in a condo community. And, my cooking is nothing anyone would ever brag about!

    1. yeah, that's the issue - we're in an apartment community so we're very limited what we're allowed to do in the patio, and it's just a little fenced in square really. Hubby tore up all the weeds a few days ago and we replaced the bulbs so our patio lights work now. I need to finish sorting the planters as to what's trash and what I want to use, but there's progress, so maybe there's hope we'll actually sit out there one evening.
