Everyday Images #48

Welcome to another installment of my challenge and reminder to myself to take photos somewhat regularly. I'm not a photographer, but I enjoy taking everyday photos of things I find interesting or want to remember later, and I find that I notice interesting things when I'm intentionally watching for them. Having some prompts that are open to interpretation has helped me pay a little more attention to what's around me. Every two weeks I have a few words and phrases that I'm focusing on, and I try to find opportunities to take pictures of these things each week. These were the prompts I assigned myself for the past couple weeks:

harvest - I stumped myself with this one, and I thought it would be easy even though I don't have a garden. I'm settling for this to represent the harvest season.

spooky - we happened upon some very creative Halloween decorations at an old abandoned mill. Bet this would have been fun to drive by in the dark!

vintage - had several options for this so I'm including two. The inside of my old upright grand piano that my daughter is in the process of dismantling - it's got a ten year guarantee, but this piano was still in great shape after a hundred years! The second photo is of a vintage Todd Protectograph machine that was displayed in a diner where we ate, and led to a great discussion with my mom as she remembered using similar machines at her first job in a bank.

web - you can barely see it, but there is a spider web on the plant.

A few more bonus photos:

I am sharing my photos every other Tuesday, along with my prompts for the next two weeks. You can use all or some of the prompts for your own photo posts, or none of the prompts and just link up a post featuring your photos. Simple rules: Your posts must be family-friendly; the photos must be your own; and the post must be mostly photos. If you do share I'd appreciate a mention and link to A Fresh Cup of Coffee on your post.

Everyday Images continues in 2024, every other Tuesday. And on the alternate Tuesdays, I'm hosting the Twenty-Six Lists link-up. I'd love to have you join me for that too!

You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!

  1. I enjoyed all of your photos. Hope you have a good week. I do have a question for you. There are issues that several of us are having with our comments going into no reply. I need your email address if I can get it. Send it to dpucci9972@gmail.com

    1. I'm sorry you're having trouble with comments, although I don't quite understand what's happening and if it's just with my site or not. I do have comments here set to be moderated and sometimes it takes me a little bit to approve them. I haven't had much problem with spam recently so I think I'll change that. I did reply to you by email as well.
thanks for stopping by and letting me know!

  2. Oh, I am glad I wasn't the only one struggling with harvest. My raised vegetable garden didn't harvest much more than a bit of cilantro. I have a picture of some pumpkins at Walmart, might after to settle for that.
What is going to become of the old upright? Is your daughter moving it or doing something else with it? Had to look up the Protectograph machine. I think I've seen them but didn't know what they were - thought maybe an adding machine of some sort.
I have a spider web on my dining room chair. Was worried what everyone who saw my picture of it might think of my lack of housekeeping. But this summer we had a number of spiders turn up inside somehow and spin their magic about.
Your bonus photos are tremendous, too. Always love family photos. And the fall foliage is just beautiful. The domino game made for an interesting shot, too. I like the angle.
Will try to get my post up by the first of the week. Struggled with some of the prompts this month. And hate to not have something for each one!!

    1. Yes, I thought for "harvest" I would surely be able to get a photo at one of the farms we drive by, or at a farmers market, or something, but I missed my opportunities!
My daughter has plans to salvage some parts of the old piano for crafting ideas she has, and some of the wood as well. They may be able to sell some of the metal as scrap, but I'm not sure about that. We've got our money's worth out of it, and it's not worth refurbishing so I'm letting them do as they wish with it. I've always wanted a sideboard or desk made out of an old piano cabinet, but I don't think that will happen this time!
Thanks for stopping by and commenting, and I'm looking forward to seeing the photos you've come up with as well!
