Wednesday Hodgepodge - All The Holiday Tea

A hodgepodge is a jumble or assortment of things that might not appear to belong together. Joyce at From This Side of the Pond hosts a weekly link-up called Wednesday Hodgepodge that is a little collection of questions for bloggers to answer just for fun and to get to know each other. I always look forward to chatting with friends over coffee, so pour a cup of your favorite and let's visit for a few minutes!

Here are this week's questions - and my answers - for this week's Wednesday Hodgepodge.

1. Did you do more talking or more listening yesterday? Was it by choice or by necessity?

I would say I did more listening. At work I am by myself in my office, but I do field phone calls, but I would say I listen more than talk on those calls. Other than that, I didn't really interact with anyone other than my husband, and we weren't particularly chatty. I was kind of focused on getting some things ready for our holiday trip.

2. Are you a tea drinker? Hot, cold, or both? Flavored? What do you like in your tea? Do you make Christmas tea this time of year? What time of day do you like to sip your tea?

I love sweet tea, also known as iced tea, but I seldom drink hot tea. That kind of answers the first two questions, I guess. I like my iced tea with just sugar, no lemon! Sometimes I'll get raspberry iced tea at a restaurant. I also like chai, either hot or iced, but I drink it iced more often. If I drink hot tea, I usually go for an herbal tea, and generally I like it with just honey or sugar, no milk. I'm not sure I know what Christmas tea is?

3. What's an activity you won't try, an event you won't attend, or an athletic challenge you won't take part in not even for 'all the tea in China'?

I would never take part in any activity or event that violates my Christian beliefs, no matter what. But I don't really think that's the spirit of this question, and while there are a lot of things that I wouldn't ever consider doing, I think I'm adventurous enough that I could see myself being persuaded if there was enough tea offered to me! I'm not athletic at all, so I wouldn't take on an athletic challenge anyway!

4. What's something most people seem to love but is not 'your cup of tea'?

 Sushi. Seafood in general.

5. How does your family celebrate New Year's Eve?

Well, I'm not entirely sure what we'll do this year. We used to ring in the New Year at a friend's place, with lots of food and games, and even a few fireworks at midnight. Over the past several years, the family has tended to go different directions for New Year's Eve, but when possible we like to be together. Playing games, watching movies or playing Jackbox, and enjoying good food.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

I'm working on getting my Twenty-Six Lists together so I can do an intro post to this link-up I'll be hosting in 2024. My goal is to get that first post with the details published by the end of the week, and I hope you'll join me! I also want to do some wrap-up posts for the reading challenges that I sort of participated in this year. The last couple weeks of December - that Twelve Days of Christmas - is always so busy, isn't it?

Do you celebrate all twelve days of Christmas, or does the season end for you on the 26th? Leave a comment and let me know!

I'm sharing in this week's Wednesday Hodgepodge at From This Side of the Pond.

  1. Hi Kim, I’m with you about sushi and most seafood. I’m allergic to shell fish. The only fish I like is Cod that is beer battered, as in Fish and Chips.

Your link up sounds intriguing. Look forward in learning more about it.

    Merry Christmas.

  3. I love sweet tea and get so excited when we travel south and I can order that (it doesn't exist up here!)... I only drink hot tea when I'm fighting off a cold or illness. We don't usually celebrate New Year's Eve at all but this year I'm throwing a 70th birthday party for my mom that afternoon so our house will be busy.

  4. I'm with you about sushi too. What do you mean about the twelve days of Christmas? I mean seriously, I thought that was a movie thing, something similar to groundhog day? Or do you mean that Christmas isn't fully over until January 6th? We used to have our Christmas tree up until then indeed, but I don't even have a Christmas tree this year.

    1. Traditionally, the Christmas season is from Chrstmas Day until Epiphany on January 6th, and that's the twelve days of Christmas. :-) But in America, most people start with Christmas things at Thanksgiving so many of them pack up all the decorations on December 26th. Thanks for stopping by and asking!

  7. I used to be a tea drinker, but I got away from it for some reason that completely escapes me. I like hot tea better than iced tea. My favorite is Constant Comment with one packet of sweetener!

I agree on sushi, but I like some seafood...usually deep fried and covered in something fattening...so why eat it?

    Have a wonderful week, Kym!
