Snowy walk, every time! I love snowy walks, as long as it's not TOO frigid or windy. I haven't skated or been sledding in decades, and I decided in my teens that I did not like skiing in the least. I would like to try cross-country skiing or snowshoeing, and I think I'd like both of those activities once I got the hang of it. Assuming I could, in fact, get the hang of it without injuring myself first! Haven't had the opportunity to play in the snow thus far this winter. But yes, I've been out on a few short snowy walks and hopefully can do it again soon.
With the discussion of snow and snowy activities (plus I recently wrote a whole article about the subject for the Tell Us About link-up - Tell Us About . . . Snow: Snow Globe World) I looked in my January 2016 photo collection and sure enough, we had a big dump of snow ten years ago! One that shut most activities down for a couple of days. Not as deep as a couple of other big winter storms we had but it was a whole day's project and family effort to dig the vehicles out of the driveway. Looks like we're on track to get a whole lot of snow this coming weekend, so that should be . . . fun . . .
3. What's a trend you hope disappears in this new year?
Rioting and rebellion and spewing hatred. I don't know if that's a 'trend' but there's a sense that some people consider it 'trendy' and a flex of some kind to go on social media with insane rants about their wish to commit violence against authorities and law enforcement. That shouldn't be considered cool or edgy or popular in any way. And it's so terribly dangerous.
I do like granola bars, and usually choose the chewy variety. I haven't had regular granola in a long time, but I do like it. I enjoy just about anything in the 'breakfast bars' category. My current favorites are the sweet and salty combo ones, and the Kind breakfast protein bars.
I think I'll go with frozen lake right now. Might look pretty and peaceful, but very little is moving or changing, and it's so cold. I'm struggling with getting stuff checked off my to-do list once again, and feeling rather sluggish about getting things done. Lacking a bit of motivation, one might say. Hopefully the Wednesday Quotes theme will give me a kick in the butt! The topic we chose is Motivation, and boy I need a bit of it!
The current link-up is here: WQ - What's My Motivation? Stop by and share a few thoughts and quotes!
I was really looking forward to our Sweet Adelines Regional event this weekend, but because of the impending snowstorm event, it has been cancelled. So no traveling, which is fine. But also no chorus fun with friends, and no visit to the Brown Hotel for a Kentucky Hot Brown. I was looking forward to that too. So we're adjusting our weekend plans and will stay home and stay warm. Praying for everyone affected by the snow and ice and cold temperatures to be safe!
Oh and don't forget the Everyday Images photo link-up which is open now and will have a new set of prompts next Thursday!
What kind of weather are you expecting on the weekend? Leave a comment and let me know!

I am so sorry the snow is messing up your weekend plans! Will they reschedule the trip for another date? We've been looking back at past January and February winters too-- one year we got nearly 30 inches overnight! I really do NOT want a repeat of that one...
ReplyDeleteas far as I know this weekend's conference will not be rescheduled - they have to book everything so far in advance that shifting it to another date isn't practical. At least we're able to cancel our hotel reservations without paying cancellation fees!
Delete30 inches overnight is WAY too much snow at once! I agree, I don't need a repeat of some of the big snowstorms we've had in past years. The estimates for the one headed our way now are bad enough.

I hate when snow gets in the way of plans. We aren't sure how much we're getting here!
ReplyDeleteSeems like the forecasts are still all over the place as far as how much snow to expect. I've heard the same from friends living all over the mid Atlantic and midwest. Hope it's not too bad! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
DeleteWe're supposed to have extreme cold on Saturday and then snow Sunday into Monday. It remains to be seen how much we'll get. Sorry it is getting in the way of what sounds like some lovely and enjoyable plans!
ReplyDeleteI am so with you on your answer to #3. I skipped that question because I couldn't think of a trend but yes, this sure is one and it needs to go away. It never fails to amaze me how immature many people are.
We're in a similar position as far as weekend weather. It's so cold today, I'm really glad I'm not on the road to that weekend!
DeletePeople are selfish and immature, and I think often they are willfully ignorant of the facts. Just want an excuse to be destructive and hateful, unfortunately. Praying that peace prevails and it's under control soon!

I'll have to checkout the everyday images. I enjoyed your photos and answers. I've never heard of a kentucky hot brown
ReplyDeleteI first heard about Kentucky hot browns only a few years ago. I'd describe it as a gourmet hot turkey sandwich - bechamel and tomato and bacon instead of just gravy. I'd love if you can join in at Everyday Images! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
DeleteI'm sorry that your plans had to change! It looks like that weather event did, in fact, happen :(. Agree so much with what you said about trends. I can't imagine posting about wishing violence on anyone. Did you hear about the ob/gyn nurse who posted something horrible about what she hopes happens after Karoline Leavitt has her baby? To have the thought is bad enough; to let others know about your dark heart is on a whole other terrible level.
ReplyDeleteSomeone who thinks like that has no business being in nursing or health care at all. I hope her license is revoked. That kind of hatred is truly toxic and dark.
DeleteYes, as you know, the storm has arrived, and all the things have been cancelled or changed. It's okay though - we've enjoyed our snow day!
