Oh definitely! There's plenty on the calendar during this time of year as it is, and I'm busy at work. I've committed to a few events with the chorus, and to being at rehearsals early and late most weeks to help with risers and guests and such. I haven't even started Christmas decorating or shopping! And on Saturday we got the very happy news that our son is coming to spend Thanksgiving with us! We're super excited about that, but it also means I have to get the guest room ready for him! Oh yeah, and my car was in the shop yesterday and again today, which means leaving the house early and makes my day feel even longer. So my plate is full in the sense that I have a lot to do and limited time and energy to do it with!
I learned from a couple sources. I grew up helping my Mum, my Grandma, and my aunts in the kitchen, but that was more often baking than cooking. I took Home Ec when it was required in school, and learned a bit there. So I had only very basic skills when I got married and had to learn by doing. I've always followed a recipe, but I'm pretty comfortable substituting ingredients and making adjustments.
3. Last time you bit off more than you could chew? Elaborate.
Back in the spring when I agreed to co-chair the chorus show. I thought I'd be just in a supporting role, so even though our timeline was rather shortened, I didn't really appreciate how involved it would be. Then the other co-chair needed back surgery and was limited as to what she could do, and with deadlines looming, I wound up making more decisions and doing more tasks than I was prepared for. It wasn't difficult, and it wasn't truly "too much" . . . it just came at me fast!
Hmmm. Not too sure. I think I express something like this whenever the whole family is together. Like for the holidays or during our summer family vacation.
T - Time together with loved ones
H - Health and home, hope and happiness
A - All the blessings we enjoy
N - Needs always met
K - Knowing Jesus, kindred spirits
S - So much to be thankful for!
With our son coming to visit and the first half of this week being very long days that started early, I've really got nothing to add to my random thoughts other than my usual invitations to link-ups! Hope I'm able to come visit all of you and read your hodgepodges within a couple of days!
The current Wednesday Quotes link-up is about Celebrating Holidays, and you can find it here: WQ - Celebrating the Holiday Season. Stop by and share a few thoughts and quotes! The Everyday Images photo link-up is open as well and I'd love to see your photos!
Happy Thanksgiving, Friends!
