At the beginning of each month I've been participating in the "Currently" link-up hosted at Overflowing With Thankfulness. Our hostess Jennifer posts a set of action verb prompts for the month and writers respond. So, without further ado, here are this month's prompts and what's happening currently . . .

Loving - Things I'm loving right now include:
This has been a repeating theme with me for over a month now, but I am still loving the weather. Except for a few rainy days, it's been clear and sunny most of the time. It's a lot cooler now, which I call sweater weather, but I would rather wear a cozy flannel than a sweater most of the time. I love the touch of frost first thing in the morning, because right now it's still only a thirty-second job to clear my car's windshield. Bonus, right now the moon is huge and almost full and we can see it morning and evening. The only downside to the current weather is that I do have to drive directly into the sun for part of my morning commute.
I loved watching the MLB playoffs and World Series, even though I was so disappointed that my Blue Jays didn't emerge victorious. The NHL season is well underway and we've gone to a couple of Blue Jackets games, including one where we were guests of a friend from church . . . in the Club section! What a treat!
We just had a little flurry of celebrations in our family recently. On consecutive weekends, we celebrated our son's birthday, his and his wife's anniversary, and our granddaughter's birthday. Their choice of adventure for the anniversary included a trip to Loveland Castle, which is a very interesting hidden gem not far from Cincinnati.
Looking forward to - Even though we won't be getting together with the Maryland family for Thanksgiving, I'm still really looking forward to the day because we will be able to spend it with our Ohio family. And we'll be here to start decorating instead of waiting until we get back from a long weekend. The evening before Thanksgiving is when we 'officially' get out Christmas decorations, or it has been traditionally. That schedule gets adjusted when we're away over Thanksgiving.
We started talking with our Ohio family about the holiday events and activities we want to do together as well. We thought we should plan some things ahead of time as much as possible so we wouldn't miss out on the things we most wanted to do together, so there's plenty to look forward to!
Smelling - Coffee as usual, and yes, we have candles or scented wax warmers on more often this time of year. I love the ones that smell of spices and cider, or butterscotch, or campfires and woodsy-ness. (is that a word?) Pumpkin spice is a wonderful candle scent, even if it's not my favorite latte flavor!
A less positive take on smells . . . we noticed a less-than-pleasant smell in the fridge earlier this evening, so I quickly cleaned it out and sure enough, there were some expired things that I'd failed to remove when I should have. I'm still not that good at shopping and preparing food for just two people apparently.
Preparing for - the holidays, in general. As I said, we're starting to plan out which light displays we want to visit, whether we'll go to the cookie walk, etc. The chorus has a few holiday sing-outs on the calendar, and I'm planning to do most of them, so we'll be preparing holiday music.
Oh! Also! I'm preparing to close the entries for this giveaway so hop over to my review post and check it out! I seldom do these kinds of reviews these days, but I decided to participate in the promotion for the Peace of God Bible. It's beautiful, and the Devotionals and Peace Notes in it are so good. You can read my review and enter the giveaway here: Peace of God Bible (Review and Giveaway)
Thankful for - my wonderful husband; my amazing kids and their partners, and my beautiful granddaughters. I'm especially thankful that they all love Jesus and live for him. I'm thankful for all my family members and that we have such good relationships. I'm thankful for the great friends I have in my life, the ones that have been faithful for years and across miles, and for the new friendships I'm building now. I'm thankful for my church and for the chorus. All of these things, and so many others, are blessings from my God, so above all else, I'm thankful for his goodness and grace to me, and for all the ways he so faithfully and abundantly provides for us and loves us.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.
~Psalm 100:4-5~

Quotable (I've enjoyed hunting up little quotes to sprinkle into my posts, and I host a regular Wednesday Quotes link party based on interesting quotes, but I've still got such a collection that I have to keep sharing them!):
Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgiving, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings. ~William Arthur Ward
May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey be plump
May your potatoes and gravy
Have nary a lump
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize
And may your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off your thighs!
~Grandpa Jones
