I don't think we'll celebrate National Picnic Day - at least we won't today! I think it's still a little early in the spring for picnics where we live, because the weather is still quite changeable. In general I enjoy picnics, and prefer them outdoors. I used to have a wonderful wicker picnic basket complete with bright colored plastic dinnerware, but that was a long time ago. Nowadays, my picnic basket is most likely to contain chicken salad, some kind of sandwiches, and lots of napkins!
I can't think of a specific occasion, but there have been quite a few days over the past couple weeks where I've been especially fidgety and uncomfortable while at work and while driving. I chalk it up to being tired and feeling like it's a struggle to concentrate or even stay awake, and when I'm driving that worry that I'm overtired definitely makes me antsy!
3. As the saying goes . . . 'when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.' Do you like lemonade? When did you recently need to make lemonade out of lemons, figuratively speaking?
I really like lemonade, but because it's acidic I don't drink it often. My favorite is raspberry lemonade. I guess I look at our current housing situation as making lemonade out of lemons. We're renting, which I'm not a fan of, but there's some benefits. We had hoped to be working with a realtor and looking for something to buy this spring, but the timing has not worked at all, so we will be signing another lease renewal. That's very lemony to me, because I'd really wanted my own place this year, but the lemonade is that we will have plenty of time to look and plan, so we won't be rushed. And maybe the interest rates will come down too!
Oh I definitely heard about it and thought it was absolutely ridiculous that they presented it like it was some amazing space exploration. It was a thrill ride and those women didn't do a single thing to advance women in STEM or human knowledge or anything else of any value. I might have appreciated it more if they didn't try to make it into more than the publicity stunt that it actually was. Would I do it? Not a chance. As much as I love rollercoasters and almost any thrill ride, skydiving has always been a hard NO for me, so I'd definitely not want to be flung up into the atmosphere in a tin yurt with a parachute. Nope.
At the moment, my favorite thing is that I'm here relaxed and unrushed as I'm not going to work today. I'm in our second bedroom which is sort of an office space and sitting room, and functions as a guest bedroom. When it's tidied up, it's pretty comfortable. I admit it's not completely tidy right now as I've left the ironing draped over the back of the sofa, and my purse, work bag, and a bunch of books and papers I need to sort are spread out on the sofa too.
I'm having a week. I'm having a colonoscopy today - yay for having enough birthdays that I need to do that every so often - so the prep is not much fun. So Monday night I'm enjoying my "last supper" of solid food for a couple of days, and a filling came right out of my tooth! Not even like I was eating anything crunchy or sticky either. I guess I've also had enough birthdays that the fillings I got in my late teens are all reaching their expiration dates. Well, that necessitated me finding a dentist right quick, so that's coming up on Monday. Then yesterday morning when I left the house to go to work, I managed to trip and went down hard on the sidewalk. I'm shocked that I didn't break anything or even bloody my knees, but I certainly was shaken up and expect some bruises to form. I am sore all over today, not just my bruised knees and elbows, but my wrist and shoulder that were jarred by the fall . . . but I can't take any pain meds until after the procedure. So that's fun.
But I do have today off work, which is actually kind of nice.
