Scripture and a Snapshot - Declare His Glory

Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name;
make known among the nations what he has done.
Sing to him, sing praise to him;
tell of all his wonderful acts.
Glory in his holy name;
let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.
Look to the LORD and his strength;
seek his face always.

Remember the wonders he has done,
his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced,
you his servants, the descendants of Israel,
his chosen ones, the children of Jacob.
He is the LORD our God;
his judgments are in all the earth.

Sing to the LORD, all the earth;
proclaim his salvation day after day.
Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvelous deeds among all peoples.

For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise;
he is to be feared above all gods.
For all the gods of the nations are idols,
but the LORD made the heavens.
Splendor and majesty are before him;
strength and joy are in his dwelling place.

Ascribe to the LORD, all you families of nations,
ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name;
bring an offering and come before him.
Worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness.
Tremble before him, all the earth!
The world is firmly estalished; it cannot be moved.

Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad;
let them say among the nations, "The LORD reigns!"
Let the sea resound, and all that is in it;
let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them!
Let the trees of the forest sing,
let them sing for joy before the LORD,
for he comes to judge the earth.

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
his love endures forever.
Cry out, "Save us, God our Saviour;
gather us and deliver us from the nations,
that we may give thanks to your holy name,
and glory in your praise."
Praise be the LORD, the God of Israel,
from everlasting to everlasting.

Then all the people said, "Amen" and "Praise the LORD."

~I Chronicles 16:8-14, 23-36~

Everyday Images #72

Welcome to another installment of my challenge and reminder to myself to take photos somewhat regularly. I'm not a photographer, but I enjoy taking everyday photos of things I find interesting or want to remember later, and I find that I notice interesting things when I'm intentionally watching for them. Having some prompts that are open to interpretation has helped me pay a little more attention to what's around me. Every two weeks I have a few words and phrases that I'm focusing on, and I try to find opportunities to take pictures of these things each week.

listen - my radio station of choice is RadioU (88.7 in central Ohio, or online at RadioU.com) though I usually turn to a podcast, Spotify playlist, or audiobook on my commute home from work. It was taking its time loading this particular day.

matching - thought I might have stumped myself again, and then noticed my luggage set still sitting out after I used the duffel bag on the weekend. This suitcase is super easy to spot in a luggage carousel!

And a few bonus photos:

These are also from Timbuk Farms' fall fest.

Hockey season has started! We went to a preseason game last week.

This folder is where I file work emails that are not something I can look after or need to know, but I don't think I should delete just yet. I had snapped a photo to message to a friend just for a giggle, and found it still on my phone when I put this post together.

Tried to dress up our front door area for fall. I say "front door" but it's an apartment so we actually have just the one outside door.

I enjoyed these pumpkins for a day or two, but hubby had brought them home to pass along to our granddaughter.

October skies . . . 😍Am I right?!

I am sharing my photos every other Thursday, along with my prompts for the next two weeks. You can use all or some of the prompts for your own photo posts, or none of the prompts and just link up a post featuring your photos. Simple rules: Your posts must be family-friendly; the photos must be your own; and the post must be mostly photos. If you do share I'd appreciate a mention and link to A Fresh Cup of Coffee on your post.

Everyday Images will continue in 2025, every other Thursday, and the link-up is open for two weeks.

Wednesday Hodgepodge - Autumn Abundance

A hodgepodge is a jumble or assortment of things that might not appear to belong together. Joyce at From This Side of the Pond hosts a weekly link-up called Wednesday Hodgepodge that is a little collection of questions for bloggers to answer just for fun and to get to know each other. I always look forward to chatting with friends over coffee, so pour a cup of your favorite and let's visit for a few minutes!

Here are this week's questions - and my answers - for this week's Wednesday Hodgepodge.

1.  'The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.' How does this saying ring true in your own family, either the one you grew up in or the one you made?

I'm sometimes surprised by just how much our kids are like me and my husband in interesting little ways. My daughter doesn't look much like me, but we have so many similar interests and tastes. I don't know if this is an example of the apple not falling far from the tree, but when I visited my family in Manitoba in the spring, I was struck by the fact that my sister and I have basically the same speaking voice as our mom. And what was wild about that realization was that my aunt who is very hard of hearing seemed to be able to hear and understand me well, and we were able to converse, but my mom had to keep repeating herself over and over and still my aunt couldn't get it. But we have The Same Voice, so why??

2. Something you're nuts about these days? How about something that's driving you nuts?

Currently nuts about all kinds of sweet snacks, but I can't think of anything more specific than that. It is driving me nuts that I have so much trouble finding the energy and motivation to keep the house organized and get to some of the projects I want to do. So frustrating that I just run out of steam day after day, and since I already have a tendency to procrastinate it's not a good combination.

 3. What does abundance mean to you?

 Whenever we have more than enough of what we need, or have enough without any real worry that we won't have enough tomorrow, I think that's a kind of abundance. I do think abundance is less about material things and more about intangibles like friendships, community, purpose, things that bring enjoyment and satisfaction and delight in our lives.

How priceless your faithful love is, God!
People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
They are filled from the abundance of your house.
You let them drink from your refreshing stream.
For the wellspring of life is with you.
By means of your light we see light.
Spread your faithful love over those who know you,
and your righteousness over the upright in heart.
~Psalm 36:7-10~

4. Caramel apple - caramel cake - caramel corn - caramel sundae - caramel macchiato . . . what's your caramel treat of choice?

 It's a toss-up between caramel corn and a caramel sundae . . . If I have to choose, I'll go with the sundae. Especially if it's a hot caramel sundae. I always choose the caramel topping rather than chocolate for ice cream. I adore caramel corn too, but it does tend to get caught in my teeth, which is a downside.

5.  What's a childhood memory that always comes to mind as the leaves start to fall?

 I really can't think of anything from childhood that is really tied to autumn. I guess maybe Thanksgiving. My family very often took a little bit of a vacation in the fall, or at least that's how i remember it. A trip to visit my grandparents, or maybe a last short camping trip if the weather was nice enough. Whether on a camping trip or at home, my dad loved to build bonfires all summer and into the fall.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

The Scioto Valley Chorus show on Sunday went really well and it was a great day! A very long and tiring day, but worth it! It was kind of nice to have a break from rehearsal on Monday night, and my daughter called and we had a long rambling visit. Which means I didn't really get much done at home, but that's okay!

We're planning to have friends over on Saturday to celebrate Thanksgiving, the Canadian edition. Need to get my kitchen and dining room cleaned up by then! And we're considering that we'll probably go to Maryland for Thanksgiving, the American edition. Need to make a decision and firm up the plans if we're going to do it!

The current Wednesday Quotes link-up is open for another week and you can find it here: WQ - Autumn Is Another Spring. Stop by and share a few thoughts and quotes! Watch for the new Everyday Images photo link-up to open tomorrow morning! I think I've got all the photos I need for the prompts!

How is your autumn going so far? Leave a comment and let me know!

Currently . . . October 5, 2025

At the beginning of each month I've been participating in the "Currently" link-up hosted at Overflowing With Thankfulness. Our hostess Jennifer posts a set of action verb prompts for the month and writers respond. So, without further ado, here are this month's prompts and what's happening currently . . .

***********

Loving - Things I'm loving right now include:

The convergence of baseball and hockey seasons. Our baseball team, the Toronto Blue Jays, had a decisive win in the first game of the division playoffs, so that's exciting. Yeah, I know it's only Game One of the series, but they've had a strong season and we're hoping they can keep it up! (Edited to add: Got home from the show and everything today and saw that the Jays dominated again today and now have a 2-0 lead in the series!) Hockey season is starting and we've been to a Blue Jackets pre-season game, and have our tickets lined up for the rest of the season.

We've been so eager for the new season of Only Murders In The Building, and it started in September so we are loving that!

I've been saying this a lot lately, but I love the weather we've been having! Perfect fall weather! Very warm sunny days, and comfortably cool nights. Perfect for fall fests, like the one at Timbuk Farms, where they have this wonderful mum field artwork. It's hard to see at the angle I had in this photo, but it's a sunset with a cardinal in one upper corner and an Ohio flag in the other.

 I got a new fall-theme garden stake when we visited Sugar Creek a couple weeks ago, and this weekend hubby brought me two of the fall planters I'd be eyeing. I love them all.

I think these are celosia, but they remind me of
the Lorax's truffula trees. :-)

Anticipating - at the time I'm writing this, I'm anticipating the Scioto Valley Chorus fall show which will be on Sunday afternoon. (It will be over by the time I actually publish and link up though, and maybe I'll take time to write a sentence or two about it, but maybe not.)

(Okay, here's the sentence or two! The show went very well and was so much fun. Our afterglow party followed the show and we got to hear from our quartets again, and of course they are amazing. We all have a well-earned day off from rehearsal on Monday and will be back on the risers the following week.)

Looking forward to - Thanksgiving, the Canadian edition. Since we'll have to work that Monday, we're celebrating on Saturday evening with friends. I still have to figure out the menu, but it will probably be a smoked turkey breast. That's what we had last year, and I was pretty happy with how it turned out.

Wearing - The weather has been so warm and beautiful that I'm still wearing t-shirts and haven't had much need for a jacket. I wear a very light one in the morning to go to work but certainly don't need it in the afternoon! I do have my flannel and some hoodies ready to go as soon as it cools down a bit.

Cooking - mostly quick and simple meals, and not very many this past week either, since we were busy most evenings. Hopefully we can take advantage of the nice weather and grill a couple of nights this coming week - I've got lamb kebabs I want to grill, for one thing. And as I mentioned in "looking forward to" I'm thinking we'll smoke a buttermilk brined turkey breast for Saturday. Probably roasted root vegetables to go along with it, and then some more traditional Thanksgiving menu items too.

Quotable (I've enjoyed hunting up little quotes to sprinkle into my posts, and I host a regular Wednesday Quotes link party based on interesting quotes, but I've still got such a collection that I have to keep sharing them!):

Consider this your invitation to stop by the current link-up and join us: WQ - Autumn Is Another Spring. The link-up is open for two weeks, and the next one will open on October 15th, with the theme "Daily Bread"
