10 on the 10th - Would You Rather Summer Edition

On the 10th of each month, Marsha In the Middle asks ten questions for us to answer in as much or little detail as we wish. She's come up with ten fun "would you rather" questions for us to discuss this month. These are tough choices because I don't think there are any options I would dislike, so I may wind up explaining my logic in every case!

1. Would you rather vacation in Alaska or Bali?
This one is easy. I've wanted to go on an Alaskan cruise for my entire adult life and haven't done it yet, so that is what I'd rather do. Bali looks amazing also, but I'll choose the one that I've been trying to check off my bucket list for decades.

2. Would you rather learn to play a musical instrument or learn to paint?
I already know how to play piano, but I would love to learn (relearn and learn well) guitar. I think that's a skill I'd be able to make really practical use of.

3. Would you rather wear flip flops or sneakers?
I would honestly rather wear flip flops but my arches appreciate when I wear shoes that are slightly more supportive. Thankfully I like sneakers too so at this point that is what I'd rather wear.

4. Would you rather ride the highest roller coaster or bump along on the Lazy River ride?
I love roller coasters. I also love the Lazy River. As of the time of writing, the Lazy River ride sounds much more appealing, perhaps because I so enjoy being lazy and I don't really feel like being strapped into a thrill ride.

5. Would you rather go on a road trip or take a flight to a faraway destination?
I love road trips, but I have a long list of faraway places I'd love to see, so I would rather fly to one of those.

6. Would you rather have a summer birthday or a winter birthday?
I have a winter birthday and I have no problems with it, but I might like to experience a summer birthday too. I think there are more options for fun birthday parties with summer birthdays. With a winter birthday, especially right around Christmas like mine, it feels like there's a lot to compete with when planning a party.

7. Would you rather go to a flea market or a craft fair?
Oh definitely a craft fair! I'd find a lot to be interested in at a craft fair. I'm not a big fan of flea markets.

8. Would you rather go tubing down a river or zip lining through the trees?
Almost twenty years ago now, while on a mission trip in Honduras, I did go on a ziplining adventure. It was a multi-stage zipline through the trees and crossing the river and waterfalls at least three times. It was exhilerating! I loved it!! I felt a little old and heavy doing it at the time and I'm twenty years older and an undisclosed number of pounds heavier now. So all that to say, I think I'd be better off tubing down the river at this point.

9. Would you rather go on a safari or a whale watching tour?
A safari would be really exciting, but I would prefer a whale watching tour. Especially if it could be on a tall sail ship. We did it on our Maine and Atlantic Canada vacation a number of years ago and I loved being on the small sailing ship, which surprised me a little because I am afraid of deep water, especially the ocean. But I would do that again in a heartbeat.

10. Would you rather be able to control the weather or talk to animals?
I would much rather talk with animals. It would be good to communicate with my cat and make sure she's doing okay and just have small talk with her. (She's not eating much right now and we think maybe she's got a bad tooth or something tender in her mouth - sure wish we could just ask her what's going on and what we could do to help!) Also having the the ability to control the weather is waaaaaaaaay too much responsibility and too many factors to consider.

What would you rather choose? Leave a comment and let me know!

Simple Meal Planning - Plan to Eat

  1. We have given pretty opposite answers, but I can really relate to one thing. My cat is weird about eating as well at the moment, but I blame the heat. I hope you'll find out the reason why your cat isn't eating much and will be able to help her, it's always so worrying!

    1. I hope it's nothing more than the weather or something simple that is putting our cats off, and that yours will be back to normal soon too! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

  2. Thanks for joining in on the fun, Kym! Your ziplining adventure sounds amazing! I didn't realize they lasted that long, or I might have picked that instead!

    1. The zipline we did zigzagged across the river/waterfall at least three times if I remember right. I think I'd prefer that to one LONG zip. LOL It really was fun - I wish I'd been able to share a photo!
Thanks for the fun link-up, and for stopping by to comment!

  3. I think I would choose the instrument! I've always wanted to be able to play the guitar.

    1. I kind of regret not working harder at guitar when I learned a little way back in school. I should have kept it up. Maybe you could still take a few lessons and try it!

  8. I could ditto most of your answers. Would prefer floating down a calm river. We did a little white water rafting last summer and it was exciting.

    1. True whitewater rafting is something I haven't done but would love to. We used to go canoeing in the mountain rivers so there were rapids but not whitewater - but I enjoyed that little taste of it! But at my stage of life, it's probably better for me to choose calm rivers most of the time. LOL
